The Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow Palette collection is iconic. You’d be hard pushed to find anyone remotely connected to the beauty community (influencer/artist/consumer) that hasn’t heard of or even owns, at least one palette in the infamous collection. Naked2 was one of the first high-end palettes I ever owned and, it’s safe to say, that after this purchase I instantly fell in love with the brand. Even though Urban Decay have nailed your everyday bronze, taupe, smokey and neutral eye, I get most excited about the palettes that embrace colour such as their stunning Alice in Wonderland collaboration, the Moondust pressed glitter palette and their sizzling Naked Heat palette – THE palette of summer 2017. When Trendmood released photos of Naked Cherry every fibre of my soul wanted it, however, I listened to my head rather than my heart – how much use would I really get out of a palette dominated by deep mauves, pinks and rose golds?
Now I finally have it in my possession I’m like a giddy child in a sweet shop. Yes, the shades are not typically those that I gravitate to on a daily basis, however, the formula is so creamy and easy to work that I can’t help but pack the colour on, especially now we’re heading into Autumn. The burgundy, cranberry and mauves coupled with the warmth of the chocolate browns make me want to snuggle up with a Pumpkin Spiced Latte and wrap myself in layers. I love how the first few shades (Bang Bang, Feelz & Juicy) are relatively pretty and light but as you make your way down the palette it becomes darker and spicier.
It’s almost boring to talk about the formula of any Urban Decay eyeshadow. I have a lot of their palettes in my collection (an embarrassing amount) and their shadows have never disappointed me. They nail it every single time. I always couple up my shadows with Primer Potion to ensure they stay vibrant and crease-free and finish with a quick spritz of my all-time favourite setting spray, All Nighter. Whilst a few shades translate slightly brighter and more on the coral side than I was expecting and the mattes felt a little drier than those in my Naked Heat palette, the shimmers are spectacular (as I’ve come to expect) and the mattes blend seamlessly with minimal fallout, plus the dual-sided brush inside is also amazing quality.
