No7 Protect & Perfect Advanced All in One Foundation

I was desperately in need of a new foundation so popped into Boots for a top-up of my current favourite drugstore foundation; my trusty L’Oreal True Match. As much as the new Urban Deacy, Charlotte Tilbury and ABH foundations are calling my name, I decided to opt for something a little more affordable what with Poppy’s birthday only a week away. I came across the new No7 Protect & Perfect Advanced All in One Foundation on a total whim. I’m a huge fan of their makeup, I think it’s incredibly underrated and not talked about nearly enough. Unfortunately, due to being a complete idiot and reading the ticket wrong, I originally thought this foundation was only £9, but it’s actually £17. Thank god I had enough leftover from payday to avoid mega embarrassment at the till.

It usually takes me a long time to figure out whether a foundation works for me or not. I had a disaster with the Revolution Conceal & Hydrate Foundation and had to spend weeks switching between primers, setting sprays, powders, brushes and sponges to try and desperately make it work, only to come to the conclusion that it’s not for me. From the moment I applied the No7 Protect & Perfect Advanced All in One Foundation, I knew this was a match made in heaven. Quite frankly, I love it and, thankfully, it’s worth every penny.

No7 Protect & Perfect Advanced All in One Foundation

We’re all aware of the huge success of No7’s Protect & Perfect Serum, well this foundation contains the same anti-wrinkle peptide technology as well as SPF 50…

“INGREDIENT COMPLEX:
• MATRIXYL 3000 PLUS™ – advanced anti-ageing peptides combined with pro-vitamin A to help restore a more youthful appearance to the skin
• Vitamins E & C – help block free radicals and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and pigmentation on the skin
• Anti-oxidant complex – with powerful skin protecting ginseng root extract and morus alba (mulberry) leaf extract
• A humectant formula that acts like a sponge pulling in water to the outer skin layer and slows down evaporation, leaving skin hydrated and feeling comfortable”

The finish is difficult to put my finger on. I’d say it’s demi-matte, as it does a good job of controlling oil, and mattifying areas like my nose and forehead, however, it gives the skin a very subtle radiance and a little more bounce which gives the appearance of a fresher and more youthful-looking complexion. It doesn’t crease and wears well throughout the day. It has medium buildable coverage and the formula is hydrating without creating a slippy, greasy texture as the Revolution one did. For someone who just turned 30, this foundation is the perfect combination of skincare, makeup and sun protection that offers both immediate and longterm benefits. The only downside is that it’s currently only available in 14 shades (inclusivity who?) plus it’s quite a thick consistency so I don’t think 30ml is going to last me very long, especially not at the rate I’ve been slapping it on!

The No7 Protect & Perfect Advanced All in One Foundation retails for £17 and is available to purchase from Boots here.
