For the last week, my little girl, Penny, has been obsessed with the bundle of Micro Motorz goodies she was kindly sent from Teamsterz. I’d never heard of them before so we both had fun ripping into the packets and finding lots of exciting accessories, stickers and collectable cars inside. I used to love collecting things when I was Penny’s age, whether it be Polly Pockets, Pogs or Puppy’s in My Pocket, and she’s the exact same.
You basically open up the outer wrapping to reveal a sticker and a plastic container which contains three chambers. Twist and snap off the first chamber to find a new tool which works with your car along with a leaflet all about the Micro Motorz collection. Open chamber two to unwrap a tiny accessory, such a new engine or brightly coloured interchangeable spoiler. The third chamber is where you find your vehicle and a display capsule which also doubles up as a launcher that sends your car speeding away with an impressive amount of force! There are currently over 20 different Micro Motorz to collect in the first series which includes six Nitro Chargerz (three regular and thee rare), six Speed Demons, six Hot Rodz and three ultra-rare Monster Treadz – deluxe-sized monster trucks with slick gold engines.
As a parent, there are a few things I found disappointing about the Mirco Motorz. There is a lot of waste in terms of packaging, I found the instructions a little confusing and the launch mechanism can be temperamental and unclick when you’re not expecting which Penny found really frustrating. Also, the packaging claims that there are “six surprises” inside which is a bit of a stretch because the accessories are absolutely tiny and where almost immediately lost, plus there were a few random plastic keys and spanners inside which didn’t seem to have any use whatsoever!
However, grumpy mum rants aside, I can tell my little girl thinks they are brilliant. The spring back ‘launcher’ is surprisingly powerful so the cars zoom off with a lot of force which Penny finds hilarious (I’ll pop up a few videos on my Instagram stories to show you, check out the highlight ‘toy’s’ if you miss them). I’m positive that these will be great for racing against and trading with your friends in the playground, so I can see children a lot older than Pen enjoying them too. She found opening the ‘blind’ bag exciting because she couldn’t wait to reveal which colour and style her pack included and she likes the clear display boxes or ‘houses’ as she calls them, so she can display them next to her bed. She also loves the stickers included, because, let’s face it, what child doesn’t love stickers?
Micro Motorz are available from all good supermarkets and toy retailers at £4.99 for children ages 3+.
