When I turned 30 I used my birthday money to treat myself to some high-end skincare products which included the Sunday Riley Juno Sleeping Oil, the Omorovicza Queen Of Hungary Mist and the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue Cream. While I’m still not ready to give my final thoughts on the mist and oil, I have now finished the tiny but beautifully packaged pot of eye cream. I wanted to invest in a luxurious eye cream for a while and finally decided to invest in the Magic Eye Rescue Cream because Charlotte Tilbury is a brand that has never disappointed me. I did have some issues with a slightly dry eyeshadow stick and contour wand with very little product inside, however, in terms of packaging, formula and results, the brand never fails to wow me.
Spending £40 for just 15ml of cream was a bit of a shock to the system, although I figure looking after my skin is a good investment in the long run. The packaging, as always, is dreamy as hell. You’ll probably see the now empty pot still pop-up in the background of my blog photos because it’s just too pretty to throw in the bin. The outer packaging definitely gives the illusion of there being more cream inside than there actually is so just remember that you’ll only receive 15ml. With most eye creams, a little goes a long way. The peachy toned cream is very rich and slightly oily. It melts into the skin easily and instantly makes skin feel soft, cool and comfortable.
Magic Eye Rescue makes some big claims. It promises to give your eyes a more youthful appearance and reduce the appearance of wrinkles whilst also brightening dark circles. It contains Winter Daphne Stem Cell extract, Botanical Eye Contour Complex and Second Skin Red Algae Marigel to nourish your skin as well as time-released retinol molecules that apparently “work hour-by-hour to boost the appearance of under-eye skin to make your eyes appear younger and more radiant”. There is also saccharide isomerate to keep your eyes hydrated and brighten the appearance of the skin.
As I mentioned before, I am now 30. I don’t have deep wrinkles or huge bags just yet, but I do have dark circles, fine lines and slightly ‘looser skin around the contours of my eyes which was starting to concern me. The cream definitely feels luxurious and it was a nice calming and pampering addition to my night-time skincare routine. It gave my skin an extra boost of hydration and made the skin look brighter and more awake. It has also slightly firmed the skin that was starting to lose elasticity, however, I only noticed this after several months of usage so don’t expect any overnight miracles. The price is steep, but Magic Eye Rescue is definitely a worthwhile investment if your eyes are an area that is starting to concern you and especially if you’re looking for a luxurious preventative product.
