I’m not one for changing my makeup routine drastically as the season’s change, but I do tend to gravitate towards lighter, glowy bases and peachy tones. May is the month my Maternity Leave comes to an end and I’ll soon be rushing around the house trying to get a two-year-old, a baby and myself fed and dressed before my shifts starts at 8 am. I want to spend as much time with my girls as possible, so perfecting our morning routine so it all runs as smoothly as possible is a must. Today, I’m stripping down my current makeup routine and packing as much as I can into only 10 minutes…
I purchased the Touch In Sol No Poreblem’ Primer just a week ago so I won’t go into too much detail about it just yet. I used my Debenhams points and managed to snap it up for just a fiver and I’ve already fell head over heels for it, so stay tuned for a full review coming up in a few weeks time. Basically, quickly slather a little over my chin and nose and it creates a really smooth canvas.
Since discovering the Hourglass Translucent Veil, I can now wear dewy foundations without them slipping off my nose and chin throughout the day. It might seem strange applying setting powder on top of an illuminating foundation, but my bougie Hourglass one helps keep everything in place without being overly matte. The two foundations I’ve been reaching for recently are the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro Glow Longwear Foundation (available at Amazon) and my Fresh Nude Foundation from The Body Shop. As for concealer, I use the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Concealer and the Elf 16H Camo Concealer if I’ve had a rough night (because of baby feeds not partying I’m afraid).
I don’t do much to my eyes during the day. It’s just a quick coat of the Hourglass Caution Extreme Mascara (review coming soon) and I usually just pop on a matte brown eyeshadow from my Tarte In Bloom Palette or one of my Makeup Geek shadows such as Latte or Creme Brulee with my finger and blend it out. Everyone was talking about Makeup Geek when they arrived at Beauty Bay a few years ago, but now I hardly hear anyone raving about them. If you’re a fan of the ABH or MAC singles I definitely recommend you give them a try as they are half the price and even better in quality in my humble opinion. If you want a pretty peachy look on your lids, the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette is one of my all-time favourites to dip into.
As for lips, I work at a creche and routinely have babies grabbing at me so I keep my lips very simple. Just either the Charlotte Tilbury Collagen Lip Treatment, Burt’s Bee Lip Balm or a quick swipe of my Lottie London Gloss’d Gloss Oil. As for bronzer, I always, no matter what situation, use my Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow duo as it’s the perfect shade for my pale skin. I just wish they’d come out with a single pan because it’s one of my all-time favourite products but I’m nowhere close to finishing the highlight side. To finish off my cheeks with a light peachy pop of colour I rediscovered one of my favourite blushes; Bobbi Brown’s Nude Peach, which I’m not even sure is still available. I don’t really feel a highlighter is needed with this fresh-faced everyday look because the foundation and blush are so pretty and glowy, but go for it if you’re not feeling overly shiny. At least now I’ve got my go-to makeup sorted for my return to work.
