I find ‘get unready with me’ type videos on YouTube fascinating. Instead of watching celebrities apply their makeup, it’s basically a step-by-step guide to how they remove it all and prep their skin before bed. It takes you through their favourite skincare products and how they use them. I’m the type of nosey cow that loves looking into other people’s makeup bags/fridges/shopping trolleys/handbags. It’s like getting a glimpse behind the curtain. Even though I have a sneaking suspicion a few of these videos are secretly undisclosed ADs (look out for the same brands popping up repeatedly), I find it particularly interesting to see what products beauty bloggers, Instagrammers and influencers use as they review so many products, it’s interesting to find out what actually makes the final cut. I also love reaction videos critiquing celebrity skincare routines such as this one from one of my favourite YouTube beauty experts, Susan Yara.
My favourite step in my skincare routine is cleansing. I find it so satisfying getting rid of every trace of makeup. Recently I was gifted the WipeOut Microfibre Cleansing Cloths from Magnitone and I have been using them daily ever since they arrived on my doorstep. I admit, even though my bathroom sink is surrounded by gorgeous products, sometimes I find myself still reaching for face wipes. I know, I know. Sue me. They’re just mega convenient, especially for travelling with or when I’m straight up exhausted, but, let’s face it they’re awful for the environment plus they usually contain drying alcohols and fragrance. Thanks to Magnitone, my lazy ass will never purchase another pack again.
Inside the box, you receive three microfibre cloths. Don’t worry, they’re not like the ones you use to clean your house with. You know the ones that catch your dry skin? *shudders* These are soft, fluffy and double-sided. You simply add warm water and gently buff your skin clean. No tugging or rubbing needed. They are super eco-friendly as you can reuse them 1000’s of times (just pop in a 30° wash) and they dry quickly too. The microfibres grab on to your makeup and leave your skin squeaky clean. Below you can see how much the cloth removes and what was still left on my face when I used a pad with micellar water on it afterwards.
Have these replaced my cleanser? No. However, this is how I like to get the majority of my makeup off before I really like to pamper my skin underneath. I still go in with my Super Facialist Cleansing Oil and a quick swipe of my Garnier Milky Micellar Water afterwards which is probably a little excessive but it works for me.
The ‘WipeOut!’ Microfibre Antibacterial Cleansing Cloths (3 pack) from Magnitone retail for £20 and are available to purchase here.
