I did it; I finally finished my first entire bottle of Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. Considering this huge 400ml bottle claims to contain 200 uses, I’m actually impressed with myself. I have to admit, I tend to soak my cotton pad in a very generous amount so this bottle lasted me about a month, however, considering it retails for around £5-£7 I’m not mad at that at all.
Micellar water basically contains cleansing agents that act like ‘dirt magnets’ which clean the skin without the need to rinse afterwards. I don’t solely use micellar water to remove my makeup but the option is definitely there. I usually use it as part of a 2-step or even 3-step cleansing routine. Recently, I’ve been using my trusty Magnitone WipeOut Cloth to remove the majority of my makeup, then following this with an oil or balm cleanser such as the Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Brighten Cleansing Oil. I then use the cleansing water to ensure that every last trace of makeup is gone and prep my skin for my next step; usually exfoliating. It’s all about personal preference really and sometimes, especially if I’m having a no-makeup day, I will skip a couple of steps and reach straight for a bottle of this.
Garnier has really cashed in on the popularity of the original. Their micellar range now contains ten products including six micellar waters for various skin types (two of which are oil-infused), two micellar gel washes and two micellar infused face wipes. I enjoyed the original, however, I found it drying so never fully bought into the hype. The new Garnier Micellar Cleansing Milky Water looks and feels more like a gel than water. It’s soothing and hydrating, therefore perfect for sensitive skin. It’s very quick and effective at removing makeup and doesn’t leave any leftover residue or stickiness. It helps to make my skin feel squeaky clean yet comfortable. It’s tough on makeup but doesn’t leave my face feeling tight like the original did. No matter how you incorporate it into your skincare routine, there’s no denying that the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Milky Water is wonderful highstreet find and for only £5 you really can’t go wrong.
