After having Poppy, my body has obviously gone through a lot of changes and therefore my wardrobe has too! I’m a couple of dress sizes bigger now and have next to no clothes that fit or excite me. Clothes shopping is the worst. I could spend hours in Boots or Superdrug filling my basket full of pretty makeup, but a visit to New Look or Primark gives me an instant migraine. I like to take my time and browse but pushy crowds, queues, music blasting and bizarre store layouts completely stress me out. I can never find anything! When online retailer Fashion World asked if I’d like to work with them I jumped at the chance; I was in desperate need of some new clothes.
I’m no fashion blogger; the idea of taking outfit photos broke me out in hives so I’m sorry for the awkward poses. I was given a budget of £100 and I managed to pick up a cute top, jeans, shoes and bracelet with a little change to spare; which I think you’ll agree is very impressive. I must admit, I wasn’t aware of Fashion World before a member of their lovely team got in contact. One of the things that impressed me most was their size range. This cute knit slogan top, for example, is available from sizes 8/10 to 28/30. They also carry brands such as Chi Chi London, Simply Be, Cath Kidston, Fig Leaves, Pink Clove and Accessorize all under one roof. They have lingerie and footwear departments, as well as stocking beauty (hello Pixi, Laura Geller and Real Techniques), menswear, kidswear and even home and electricals.
The first item that caught my eye was this Merci Striped Slogan Tunic. It’s really cute and easy to wear. I like clothes that I don’t have to think about what I’m going to pair them with. Pop this on with a pair of jeans and you’re good to go. The knit is pretty fine so it’s perfect to wear this spring as it’s very lightweight and cool. The nautical-style stripes are surprisingly flattering and it doesn’t lose its shape after washing. The length is also perfect as it covers both my post-pregnancy tummy and bum which instantly makes me feel less self-conscious.
I got to say the word ‘jeggings‘ kind of makes me cringe a little but this pair just feel like slim fitting jeans with slightly thinner material. I actually prefer them to my usual jeans; the stretchy material is easier to move around in and they give me more of a shape than the baggy ones I’ve been hiding in lately. I teamed this simple look with a pair of cute red ballerina pumps from Accessorize, which are super comfy and always come in handy. The finishing touch was this beautiful Covent Garden Bracelet in Onyx from Buckley London which I absolutely love.
