Since having Poppy, life has been nonstop. I recently turned the big 30, so my mum treated my little girl and I to a lovely weekend getaway at one of our favourite resorts in Scotland, Crieff Hydro. We’ve visited the Hydro many, many times in the past. Our visits have become a yearly tradition. We’ve had nothing but wonderful service there and even though it’s just an hour away, it feels like we’re hundreds of miles away from home. In the best possible way.
Since having another baby, my self-esteem in terms of my body and the way I look has gone steadily downhill and I was a little worried about wearing a swimsuit so publicly for the first time since having Poppy. You see, my very favourite thing about Crieff Hydro is their Victorian Spa. The ceiling features beautifully painted murals looking down upon you and the walls are covered in stunning tiles. It’s adults-only and numbers are limited, so you’re guaranteed a few blissful hours of uninterrupted relaxation. It features a stunning pool surrounded by lounge chairs, a steam room, sauna, fluffy white dressing gowns, herbal teas, fruit and the morning papers. It’s heavenly. Thankfully, I was gifted a gorgeous new swimsuit from UK Swimwear before we left which gave me an unexpected boost of confidence when I needed it most…
UK Swimwear* is one of the world’s leading swimwear sites. Their buyers literally travel the world in search of beautiful designer swimsuits, bikinis, kaftans to give their customers the widest choice available. I was kindly gifted the Soft Cup Swimsuit from the Moontide Twist Range in black. What I love most about the swimsuit is how the ruched detail across the abdomen and the reinforced sides help to give me a more defined, hourglass shape. The design supports my body and gives the impression that everything is ‘sucked in’, almost like shapewear which made me feel a lot less self-conscious. It feels very comfortable to wear and I love the classic design; it’s almost got a bit of a Marilyn Monroe vibe to it. The cups are very soft and non-wired but, don’t worry, they keep everything in place securely. The multiway straps are adjustable and the back of the swimsuits really hugs your bum and keeps everything where it needs to be.
After my visit to the Victorian Spa, I treated myself to a wonderful facial. I can’t remember the exact name of the treatment but it was incredibly relaxing and she used Decléor products which always do wonders for my skin. The three of us spent the rest of our night relaxing in our lovely hotel room and munching on room service (their creme brulee was to die for) whilst watching Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire surrounded by a mountain of pillows and covers like three cosy marshmallows. The following morning we completed our visit by taking a walk around the grounds (Penny loved the family of ducks), letting Penny run off some energy at the on-site soft play and park, and finally having afternoon tea in the Winter Garden cafe while watching the sun setting over the Strathearn valley.
