Happy International Women’s Day | Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls

Today is International Women’s Day, so I thought I’d quickly pop on here and share with you a beautiful and entertaining bedtime read I bought Penny a few months ago. Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls (Timbuktu Labs, £12.97) by award-winning duo, Elena Favilli and Francesca Caballo is a must-have for anyone raising little girls. GSFRG reinvents fairy tales, inspiring children with the stories of 100 heroic women; from historical figures such as Elizabeth I, Rosa Parks and Marie Curie to popular influential icons such as Serena Williams and Michelle Obama.

The book contains passages about famous and not-so-famous politicians, activists, writers, scientists, boxers, suffragettes and rockstars. Illustrated by 60 talented female artists from every corner of the globe, this is the most-funded original book in the history of Crowdfunding. There are a few controversial entries, however, on the whole, it’s pretty badass. There is also a second edition now available here, that features the adventures of (my queen) Beyonce, Beatrix Potter, Mary Shelley and Boudicca. Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls transforms extraordinary women’s biographies into empowering short child-friendly stories that encourage curious little girls to be brave, passionate and creative, and most importantly – to follow their dreams no matter what or who might stand in their way.
