The Leesa Mattress | The Best Night Sleep of Your Life…

I’ve never been this exhausted in my entire life. Poppy, my now 5-week-old newborn, isn’t my first baby. My eldest, Penny, is now two so I’ve been through it all before. The 2 am feeds, the explosive nappies and the ever-growing pile of tiny pink things needing to be washed. I thought I knew what to expect, however, recently Poppy was diagnosed with a cow’s milk allergy and because of this, for weeks she was covered head-to-toe in angry-looking red spots and was constantly sick. We were prescribed new formula to help settle her tummy and cream to soothe her rash, however, she’s still irritable and restless which has resulted in two very sleepy parents. Even when she blissfully drifts off, I’m always on high alert in case she’s been ill. To make matters worse, we were once the owners of one very creaky mattress that used to squeak whenever we dared to move which would wake her up as her Moses basket is positioned right next to us. Our bedroom has gone from our peaceful little sanctuary to a place of disrupted sleep and bickering. Thankfully, as if by magic, the lovely team at Leesa* got in touch to see if I’d like to try the Leesa Mattress, a luxury foam mattress which has been expertly-crafted to deliver extraordinary sleep, night after night. How could I resist?

Why invest in a new mattress?

Our bed is so much more than just the place we rest our heads at night. It’s the central hub of our bedroom and a key part of family life. Let’s face it, a decent night sleep can make ALL the difference to how efficiently and smoothly our day goes. It’s where my girls and I snuggle up most mornings to watch Paw Patrol whilst Daddy gets ready for work, it’s where we rock our baby to sleep at 3am, it’s where we comfort Penny when she’s had a bad dream, it’s where I go to relax and recharge. Looking back on it, it seems silly that it didn’t occur to us to invest in a new mattress sooner. We’ve spent so much money purchasing new gadgets and accessories over the years but completely overlooked one of the most important and most used items in our home.

The Leesa Mattress is available in eight different sizes that are compatible with both UK and EU standard bed frames. A UK standard single (90cm x 190cm x 25cm) retails for £450, a double (135cm x 190cm x 25cm) retails for £650 and a king (150cm x 200cm x 50cm) £750. Leesa are so confident that you’ll love your new mattress that they currently offer a 100-night risk-free trial. You can actually experience all the mattress has to offer and if you’re still not happy, Leesa arranges for it to be collected free of charge and donate it to a charitable organisation. Plus, it comes with a 10-year guarantee. If you act fast, you can use code – NOV110 – to get a huge £110 discount off your new mattress!

Packaging & Set-up

When I saw the delivery van arrive outside, I immediately started moving Penny’s toy box, the shoe rack and hall table out the way to make room for the mattress to fit through the door. I wasn’t expecting the box to be so small (measuring just 42cm x 42cm x 113cm). The mattress comes vacuum packed and couldn’t be easier to set-up. Just carefully unbox it on its side, place it on the frame of the bed and remove the outer plastic. The four iconic stripes should be located at the bottom and it will start to expand within minutes. It’s ready to sleep on after one hour but really performs at it’s best after a few days when it has fully ‘plumped’. One downfall of the whole process is the smell. It’s like a strong new car scent which I personally found a little eye-watering at first but thankfully this faded after a couple of days.

Our One Month Trial

Sleeping on the mattress felt very strange at first. Our old mattress was squeaky, bouncy and took a lot of shuffling about before you found your ideal sleeping position. The Leesa Mattress feels firm but still has a touch of bounce to it. It moulds to the shape of your body but doesn’t feel like your sinking or unable to wiggle or move comfortably. Ross described it as sleeping on a cloud when he first slept in it. The mattress is a little higher than our old one which took some getting used to, but it’s so nice to get into bed and not hear a single sound. What makes this mattress is so unique is its 3 foam layers that are designed to cradle and support your body, so it feels like it’s tailored to your exact requirements.

1. Cooling Avena® Foam – The top layer provides airflow for a cooler night’s sleep and enough bounce for freedom of movement.

2. Pressure Relieving Memory Foam – The 5cm memory foam layer delivers the body contouring and pressure relief you’ve come to expect from memory foam.

3. Dense Core Support – The 15cm base foam layer adds strength, durability and structure to support sleepers of all sizes, without feeling too firm.

No, the mattress hasn’t helped with the screaming newborn that very rudely wakes up for her 3 am feed, however, it makes it so much easier to drift back off to sleep afterwards. It used to take ages to get comfy again and it was almost comical how we would have to slowly creep back into bed as to not disturb the springs that would squeak together and undo all our hard work trying to settle her. It’s safe to say we love our new mattress. There’s a reason it has over 12,000 5 star reviews.

One last thing…

I’d just like to finish this post by emphasises how incredibly impressed I am with not just the mattress itself, but Leesa’s commitment to giving back to the community and improving the lives of vulnerable people on such a global scale. For every 10 mattresses they sell, they donate one to a number of charitable causes that serve homeless people as well as those seeking refuge from domestic abuse and human trafficking. On top of this, Leesa also works closely with the Arbor Day Foundation and plants one tree for every mattress they sell. It’s so inspiring for a company to genuinely care so much about their social impact. So far they have donated over 30,000 mattresses to non-profit organisations, you can read more about their One Ten initiative Leesa*.
