Candle Jar | The Home of Scottish Candle Makers

The heavenly aroma of lemongrass and lavender were escaping through my package from Candle Jar before I had even opened it. I find the smell of lavender instantly calming, I think it’s because it reminds me of the pillow spray I drench my bedsheets in every night. Candle Jar showcases the best of Scotland’s candle makers. It’s the home of a number of brands and features a handpicked selection of candles from the likes of dawsonbrown, Shearer Candles and The Melt Pool. I love discovering and supporting local businesses from my homeland and I think having one online store that brings them together is a wonderful idea.

I was very kindly sent two products to try, a tinned candle and a pack of wax melts. The candle is from The Melt Pool, a Glasgow based company that specialises in creating great smelling candles that also bring their customers the benefits of aromatherapy to enhance their wellbeing. They use soy wax with the purest of essential oils and all their products are handmade in small batches to ensure the highest quality.

Their Large Travel Tin in Lemongrass and Lavender retails for £7.95 and has an approximate burn time of 30 hours. I can not put into words how wonderful it smells. The scent is strong enough to fill your home with the uplifting aroma of lavender and lemongrass within minutes, however, it’s not too overpowering. It’s a lovely fresh clean smell that reminds me of a Lush bath bomb I received last Christmas, possibly the French Kiss Bubble Bar but don’t quote me on that!

These scented soy wax melts from dawsonbrown encompass everything I love about this time of year. Cinnamon Spice smells exactly like you’d expect. It’s bursting with spicy cloves, cinnamon and plum with subtle hints of vanilla. As soon as I opened the pack I wanted to put up my Christmas tree, listen to Michale Buble and sip on a huge mug of mulled wine. Visitors will be popping in soon as the big day draws near and I can’t wait for them to be greeted by this festive scent as soon as I open the door and welcome them in.
