If visible signs of ageing are starting to become a concern, Dr Anjali Mahto (one of the UK’s leading dermatologists and author of The Skincare Bible) recommends introducing retinols into your daily skincare routine. I’ll be honest with you, I didn’t have a clue where to start but knew I wanted something gentle. I have very limited experience with Pixi makeup, however, I adore their skincare collection and it’s been really interesting seeing their range expand and for the brand to finally get the attention they deserve.
The Pixi Retinol Tonic is available in two sizes, 250ml which retails for £18 and 100ml for £10. I’ve been using it daily after cleansing for over a month now. The newest tonic to be added to the Pixi family is a multi-action treatment that contains Jasmine to heal and balance plus ‘time-release’ retinol to reduce the appearance of fine lines. It also contains potent antioxidants and peptides believed to firm skin and boost collagen production. Since using the tonic my skin feels softer, calmer and plumper. I have even noticed a reduction in my smile lines, although further use will be needed before I see any difference in my more pronounced forehead lines as the amount of actual retinol in the tonic is fairly low.

I used Pixi’s bestselling Glow Tonic years ago but it irritated my skin and I never understood the hype, I find the Retinol Tonic to be a lot more gentle and calming. Retinols are known to dry out the skin, however, I’m guessing due to the low dosage and combination of glycerin and jasmine extract, I’ve never experienced any tightness or discomfort. The Retinol Tonic has been an effective addition to my skincare routine and I’m looking forward to investing in the full-sized bottle so I can hopefully continue to see results.
The Retinol Tonic retails from £10/100ml and is available here.
