When I saw the Barry M Crushed Jewel collection pop up on NikkieTutorials channel in her ‘Flawless Fall/Halloween Makeup Transformation’ video I added two shades to my online Superdrug basket almost immediately. She very rarely uses drugstore makeup in her tutorials (especially affordable products that are also available in the UK), but whenever she does I do my best to track them down.
The Barry M Crushed Jewel Cream Eyeshadow collection currently contains eight beautiful shades and, to be honest, I’d wear each and every one. Narrowing my choice down to just two (because this girl is on a budget) was difficult, but I adore the colours I picked up and, who knows, I’ll probably end up buying the others too – that’s how impressed I am with this range. The eyeshadows have a thick, opaque but surprisingly lightweight and longlasting formula that’s packed full of rich shimmer particles. It comes with a doe-foot applicator but I usually use my finger to dab it over my lid and quickly blend out the edges with a brush before it sets. In Nikkie’s video, she applies it with a small detailing brush to outline her cut-crease look.
You can tell from the swatches that both shades are creamy, richly pigmented and an absolute steal at only £4.99 each. They each give a blinding metallic finish and set comfortably so that high-shine finish lasts the entire day. Duvet Day is the light golden champagne shade and Cloud Nine is the metallic copper. They can be used as a topper but are beautiful just the way they are. I’ve said it before, cream eyeshadows are such an easy, fuss-free product to have in your arsenal. Simply pat them on and fluff them out a little to create a dramatic look in seconds.
