Over the years the Original Nipple Balm for Lips by Dr. Lipp has grown a cult following within the beauty industry. The packaging may have undergone a makeover, however, inside this little pink tube is an award-winning formula that quickly became a handbag hero. Originally created as a nipple balm for breastfeeding women, it may surprise you that this ‘miracle balm’ contains only one ingredient: medical-grade lanolin.
I’ve tried many multipurpose balms over the years, I particularly have a soft spot for my trusty pot of XO Balm. I picked up this tiny tube of Dr. Lipp’s Original Nipple Balm from TK Maxx for only £3.99 and I’m kicking myself that I didn’t stock up as the repackaged version currently retails for £12.
The balm was created by founder, Pontain, a long time sufferer of dry eczema-prone skin. After years of trying every lotion and potion known to man, she soon discovered that the fastest and most effective treatment was to apply nipple balm to her skin. I totally get this. As a mum whose unsuccessfully tried to breastfeed in the past, I can vouch for the painful cracking and dry skin that can go with it. If a product is gentle enough to soothe and nourish sensitive nips, it’s definitely gentle enough to use on your lips, nails, and elbows that’s for sure!
The balm provides instant relief from the discomfort of dry skin. It’s most common use is to treat chapped lips but it can also be used to soften and nourish eyelashes, cuticles and even babies bottoms. It can be used to tame the frizziest of moustaches, shape the unruliest of eyebrows and even, according to their website, shine up scuffed heels. The possibilities are endless.
The tube is easy to warm up between your fingers and it feels lightweight and not overly sticky or heavy. The dinky bottle is easy to travel with and I probably don’t have to mention how adorable the packaging is.
Dr.Lipp is free from parabens, fragrances, sulfates, mineral oil, petrolatum and colouring agents. No additives are used, they do not test on animals, and only use unpainted fleece from free-roaming sheep in Australia so are certified as cruelty-free. The balm is also 100% natural, tasteless and odourless.
The Original Nipple Balm for Lips by Dr. Lipp retails for £12/15ml at Feel Unique, however, I strongly recommend you check out your latest TK Maxx first and bulk buy while stocks last!
