I have a love/hate relationship with the beauty section at TK Maxx. I find it incredibly frustrating, either it’s littered with ripped packaging, garish colours and swatched makeup or it’s a treasure trove of random lotions, potions and discounted high-end makeup. I can leave the shop either with a huge smile on my face or wanting to start a Twitter rant; there’s no in-between. Thankfully, their Perth branch understands my frustration and have obviously gone out of their way to keep it as well stocked, clean and as organised as possible. I could literally spend hours searching through all the random brands and beautiful packaging. Unfortunately, none of the shades left in their range of Cover FX, Milk and Pixi makeup suited my skin tone, but I still appreciate seeing such high-end and difficult to find brands at such incredible prices.
I picked up a few skincare treats during my latest visit including a huge glass bottle of Pearlessence Rose Water Hydrating Face Mist (£6.99). Mysteriously, I couldn’t find any information about Pearlessence online apart from a few YouTube videos reviewing this very product and an article, which appears to be just as confused as I am. The simplicity of the packaging gives me serious Herbivore vibes but contains almost double the amount of product for a quarter of the price. I have a vague idea of what works and doesn’t work with regards to my skincare but I’m afraid I’m no expert when it comes to specific ingredients, however, I’ve included both lists below for you to dissect at your leisure –
HERBIVORE Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist (£28 | 128ml)
AQUA/WATER/EAU, ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF WATER, ROSA DAMASCENA FLOWER WATER, HAMAMELIS VIRGINIANA (WITCH HAZEL) FLOWER WATER, LEUCONOSTOC / (LEUCIDAL) RADISH ROOT FERMENT FILTRATE, HIBISCUS SABDARIFFA FLOWER EXTRACT, COCOS NUCIFERA (COCONUT) WATER, MELIA AZADIRACHTA FLOWER EXTRACT, COCCINIA INDICA FRUIT EXTRACT (NEER SIKKAPPU RED)
Pearlessence Rose Water Hydrating Face Mist (£6.99 | 236ml)
WATER (AQUA), ROSA CENTIFOLIA FLOWER WATER EXTRACT, GLYCERIN, ALOE BARBADENSIS (ALOE VERA) LEAF JUICE, HAMAMELIS VIRGINIANA (WITCH HAZEL) DISTILLATE, COCOS NUCIFERA (COCONUT) WATER, PEG-12 DIMETHICONE, POLYSORBATE 20, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, PHENOXYETHANOL, DISODIUM EDTA, BENZOPHENONE-4, RED 40 (CI 16035), FRAGRANCE (PARFUM)
It’s no surprise that the mist has a strong rose scent, which I personally adore. The packaging is very modern and simple and gives the impression of a high-end price tag. I really love the spray on this product as it gives a microfine mist that disperses the rose water evenly and gently. The face mist provides instant soothing relief and is the perfect mid-afternoon pick-me-up. As the spray is so fine, it doesn’t disrupt your makeup underneath and gives you a boost of moisture that’s refreshing and calming. This might just be the best ever product I have bought from TK Maxx. It doesn’t leave any residue on your skin, it’s quick drying, light, smells beautiful and is a must-have for dehydrated skin this summer. If you ever see this hidden gem lurking on the shelves of TK Maxx I highly recommend you give it a go.
