HelloFresh Update: Week 4 | A Recipe Box Review & Discount Code

We’re a full month into our subscription and we literally have no complaints about the food, delivery and customer service we’ve received so far. When HelloFresh offered me my first box in return for a review, I had no idea that I’d be so impressed with the quality of the meals that we’d actually end up signing up! Basically, Hello Fresh is a weekly fresh food delivery service. You chose what meals you’d like to cook and HelloFresh send you everything you need (including recipe cards, spices, herbs, meat and veg) to create the meal in the comfort of your own home. Our box is delivered every Saturday and left on the back porch if we’re not in. Most of the store cupboard ingredients are packed in a paper bag labeled with what recipe they belong to and all the fresh ingredients are packed in a Woolcool bag full of ice packs to ensure everything remains in the best condition possible. If you lack skills, inspiration and creativity in the kitchen, I can’t recommend this service highly enough! Here’s what I whipped up this week…

HelloFresh | Parisienne Chicken with Chickpeas & Couscous

Parisienne Chicken with Chickpeas & Couscous

Can you believe that I’ve never cooked couscous before? Please don’t think I’m ever underestimating my prowess in the kitchen. I am completely clueless. This was the first ‘rapid recipe’ I’ve ordered from HelloFresh. It only took 15 minutes to prepare which is wonderful for days when I have to cook whilst keeping an eye on the baby. The dish consists of fluffy couscous, pan-fried chicken covered in a blend of Parisienne herbs and a sauce containing chopped tomatoes, peppers and chickpeas with a dollop of minty yoghurt on top.

HelloFresh Sweet & Sour Beef with Egg Noodles

Sweet & Sour Beef with Egg Noodles

This recipe is so easy to recreate. It contains only eight ingredients including juicy beef steak strips, a sticky sweet and sour paste and garnish plus fresh green beans, peppers and onions. All I really needed to do was chop the veg up and stick it in a wok, it really couldn’t be any easier. As with most of the recipes, I needed to add olive oil, salt and pepper from my own supplies.

HelloFresh | Prawn & Chorizo Spaghetti with Fresh Vine Tomatoes

Prawn & Chorizo Spaghetti with Fresh Vine Tomatoes

I have to be honest, I found this dish filling but incredibly bland. It wasn’t bad, just a little disappointing. We’ve always found the recipes to be packed full of interesting flavour combinations and spices but this dish was very forgettable. It’s actually one of the ‘family box’ options which are designed to please little ones too.

To find out more information about costs, meal plans, suppliers and subscription options, check out my previous post here. For next week’s meals I have selected: Sausage Stuffed Chicken with Roast Potatoes, Broccoli and an Easy Pan Sauce, Black Bean Chicken with Cashew Nuts and Black Bean Sauce and Jerk Chicken Tostadas.

What recipe do you think looks most delicious?
