I don’t have many June empties to share with you today, but what I have used up and gutted to be saying goodbye to. I adore all four brands featured in today’s post and I’m seriously tempted to repurchase all the products mentioned below, which rarely ever happens! I have one skincare empty, so let’s begin there. I’ve been using the Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser (150ml | £15) in the first step of my cleansing routine, followed by the Makeup Removing Cleansing Oil (150ml | £15), also from Caudalie. If you’ve never tried their skincare, I seriously suggest you do. I’ve NEVER been disappointed by their products. To be honest, prior to being sent this, I was never really a fan of foam cleansers and I don’t think this is a product I would have purchased myself. I find them a touch too drying. This cleanser on its own does leave my skin feeling slightly tight, but it’s incredibly effective at removing makeup and impurities. That’s why I swiftly follow this step with an oil or balm cleanser to soothe and balance everything out. The packaging is very dinky so it’s perfect for travelling with too.
Applying an eyeshadow primer is often a step I skip, but when I do have the time to experiment with different eye looks (FYI my current favourite palette is the ABH Soft Glam) I use one of my two favourites: the Urban Decay Primer Potion and the Too Faced Shadow Insurance (£17). I picked this up over a year ago in TK Maxx for only £5. Recently the formula has become watery no matter how many times I shake it and it’s finally time to say goodbye. It has a soft peach tone to it which neutralises any discolouration. Its lightweight formula has a very similar texture to my Porefessional which helps to lock my eyeshadow in place and also intensify the colour. It’s crease-proof, fade-proof and waterproof. A tiny drop goes a long way so it’s a great little investment even if you have to pay full price.
When I first tried the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation (£33) I hated it. I can’t emphasise how thick this foundation is. When not blended properly it can look cakey as hell. It’s one of the only foundations I don’t apply with a sponge. Instead, I use a densely packed kabuki-style buffing brush. If you have dry skin, this is a no-no, but if you have oily to combination skin and are looking for a very full-coverage foundation with a matte finish that controls shine, you might want to check this out. It will cover absolutely everything and is great to have in your arsenal for days when your skin is misbehaving.
Finally, the Glossier Cloud Paint (£15) is another product that surprised me. I’m not usually a fan of cream blushers but there is no denying that this one is absolutely beautiful. Once again, a little goes a long way and it took me a while to get the hang of applying it. It gives a lovely wash of natural-looking colour that makes your cheeks look healthy and rosy. It’s also very long lasting and almost acts like a stain. My favourite shade is Puff (swatches available here) and I will definitely be repurchasing.
