As much as I adore my Urban Decay Naked 2, Kat Von D Shade & Light and Tarte In Bloom, my most used and loved eyeshadow palette is the one I created myself thanks to ZPalette, Makeup Geek and ColourPop. What I love about empty magnetic palettes is that they allow you to mix and match your favourite shades, finishes and brands to create a fully customisable palette tailored specifically to your individual needs and style – every girl’s dream, right? My ZPalette cost me around £15 and each pan cost around £5 each. It contains 27 pans. That’s the price of a Natasha Denona palette. Ouch. There has to be a more affordable alternative. Introducing the new collection of single eyeshadows from Phase Zero Makeup.
For a £5 monthly membership fee, Love Me Beauty subscribers can gain access to the Phase Zero Makeup collection at discounted prices. The brand is exclusively available at LMB and their collection is rapidly expanding with the recent launch of matte lipsticks, glosses and toppers (review here) and the upcoming release of 11 new High Pigment Coconut and Metal Veil Liquid Eyeshadows. If you don’t want to be a member or don’t like being tied to a contract, you can still purchase the products at the RRP. These eyeshadows, for example, retail for £5.90 each but members pay only £2.90. There are also bundles available starting at just £5 for two pans.
But how do these eyeshadows compare to the likes of MAC, Makeup Geek and Colourpop? Well… I am incredibly impressed. The design of the palette itself is stunning. I love the holographic shift to the packaging. The palette snugly fits 12 eyeshadows and, let me tell you, there is no chance of them falling out in your handbag. It is 100% secure. The shadows themselves? I couldn’t believe how pigmented and easy to work with they are.
Banana Beige (Sheer Satin), Coffee Cup (Sheer Satin), Mush-a-Boom (Shimmer) & Party Dress (Shimmer)
Snowball (Shimmer), Velvet (Sheer Satin), Pearl (Shimmer) & Cocoa (Shimmer)
Cashmere (Sheer Satin), Warm Taupe (Sheer Satin), Bright Light (Shimmer) & Nude Newbie (Shimmer)
I was kindly sent 12 out of the 23 shades currently available and I wasn’t disappointed with a single one. The colour payoff is phenomenal. Stand out shades for me are Snowball, Warm Taupe and Cashmere, but you can’t really go wrong with any combination and, as with most shimmer or metallic finishes, they really intensify when applied with a wet brush. They don’t feel chalky or contain chunks of glitter like some budget eyeshadows do. They feel buttery soft and smooth with an even distribution of pigment that is easy to blend.
I currently have a unique code available – ROXIEW5 – which gives first-time Phase Zero Makeup X Love Me Beauty customers £5 off their first purchase.
