Kathleen Lights X Colourpop | Dream St. Shadow Palette

Every pressed powder eyeshadow palette I’ve purchased from Colourpop I’ve loved, and I’m glad to report that their latest collaboration with Kathleen Lights is just as beautiful as all the others in my collection. Kathleen Lights has worked with Colourpop several times and I have many of her liquid lipsticks including the shades Alyssa, Lumiere and Aquarius, as well as a few individual Super Shock Shadows from her Where The Light Is collection. As soon as Kathleen introduced Dream St. on her YouTube channel I knew I had to have it, however, I had just made an order days before it launched so I held back making another until both their new Supernova Shadows and Lux Lipsticks dropped.

Kathleen Lights X Colourpop | Dream St. Shadow Palette

The Kathleen Lights x Colourpop Dream St. Shadow Palette retails for just $16 (roughly around £12) and contains 16 shades with matte, satin and metallic finishes. The packaging, like most Colourpop palettes, is basic but beautiful. It’s made from cardboard, just like my Juvia’s Palace palette, but very durable. Unfortunately, these palettes can get a little tatty as the shadows are richly pigmented which can cause the packaging around the pans, especially with the darker shades, to stain slightly. It doesn’t come with a mirror but the shade names are on the back and it has a magnetic fastening. Remember this palette is only $16. Personally, I’d rather they skimp on the packaging but still deliver high-quality shadows. As I said, the combination of the matte cream background and gold foil swirls and stars on top is still dreamy.

Dream St. is incredibly versatile and Kathleen herself has lots of tutorials live on her channel exclusively using this palette (available here) if you are looking for a little inspiration. The mixture of warm tones with pops of emerald greens and silvers really appealed to me. Manny MUA also pointed that it’s a dupe for the limited edition Kylie Cosmetics Blue Honey Palette which retailed for $38 and made a side-by-side comparison here.

Bottom Row:

Kaleidoscope: metallic intense silvery nude
Elfish: matte rich red brown
Moony: satin soft baby pink
Mermaid Boy: metallic deep teal

All the shades were swatched only once, with the exception of Sweet Dreams which I really had to layer for it to appear on camera. The teals are definitely not as opaque as the swatches online appear, but they blend effortlessly and layer beautifully. They are actually two of my favourite shades and make such a refreshing change from warm tones. Unlike some affordable palettes I’ve put to the test recently, the mattes aren’t chalky and the metallics aren’t crumbly. The metallics look even more beautiful and vibrant when applied wet and with your finger. It’s fair to say I’ve fallen in love with this palette and my only regret is that I didn’t pick up her Dream Team Lip Bundle too. Every shade melts into one another. Dream St. is such a lovely and easy palette to dip into.
