Exciting things are happening over at Love Me Beauty. Introducing: Phase Zero Makeup. Basically, for a £5 monthly membership fee, subscribers gain access to the Phase Zero Makeup collection at discounted prices. The brand is exclusively available at LMB and they promise to deliver high quality, cruelty-free makeup products that contain luxury formulas at factory prices. If you don’t want to be a member or don’t like being tied to a contract you can still get the products at RRP. Their lipglosses, for example, retail for £12 but members pay only £3.50.
The Phase Zero Makeup X LMB project has recently launched with a collection of lip glosses, matte lips and lip toppers and a build your own magnetic palette with individual eyeshadows in a variety of finishes and shades coming soon. Let’s face it, I’m praying for a more affordable Makeup Geek dupe!
Currently, the collection includes three lipglosses in shades ‘Goth Gloss’ (rich aubergine), ‘Baby Pink’ (nude pink) and ‘Postbox Red’ (bright red). The glosses don’t feel sticky or thick, they feel hydrating and lightweight, like a lip oil. Postbox Red is the most glossy and pigmented, Goth Gloss looks a little duller than it does in the tube and takes a bit of work to avoid a streaky finish and Baby Pink is less pink and more of a nude, but is my favourite of the three. It reminds me of my beloved ColourPop gloss, Fairy Floss, a sheer pale beige that looks perfect on top of any nude lip for a natural fuller looking finish.
There are four matte shades that all dry down without any flaking. The shade ‘Classic Red’ is exactly what it says on the tin (tube?). A bold, glamorous red that applies evenly and requires only one coat to deliver non-streaky high-impact coverage. Classic Red is incredibly long-lasting but does stain the lips. I needed to sit with a cotton pad soaked in an oil-based cleanser to remove it and I can still see the swatches on my wrist! ‘Pink Suede’ is the perfect pink nude, ‘Love You A Latte’ is a brown nude and ‘Gingerbread’ is a spicy deep brown/red. Matte lipsticks have a tendency to dry out and irritate my sensitive lips but this formula feels very comfortable and I can see where their ‘luxury high-end’ claims come into play.
The two lip products I was most excited about were the lip toppers. These give me serious Jouer vibes and I couldn’t wait to put them to the test. ‘Holograph Girl’ is the perfect shade for unicorn lovers looking to get their next holographic fix. It contains iridescent pink and blue hues that transform your favourite shades in seconds. ‘Prosecco Kiss’ is a shimmering rose-gold that is surprisingly pigmented for a lip topper. It does look pretty on top of my favourite nude lipstick, however, I find that it actually works better alone.
All lip products come in the same packaging which makes identifying the finish difficult. The plastic tubes contain 8ml of product, come with a standard doe foot applicator and the shade name is displayed on a sticker on the bottom. They are all scented too, I’m rubbish at identifying fragrances but it reminds me of marzipan, don’t worry it’s not too overpowering.
The Phase Zero Makeup X LMB project reminds me of Beauty Pie, a similar service that I was very dubious about when they launched over two years ago. To their credit, they have gone from strength to strength. They share the same ‘cut out the middleman’ ethos and business structure, however, as far as I can tell, without the handling fees and spending limits. You do, however, have to sign up to a 3-month contract. I am very excited to see what new products Phase Zero Makeup add to their collection in the upcoming months as I am very impressed with these lip products.
