When it comes to beauty boxes, I tend to stick to ‘build your own’ services, that way there are no nasty surprises. You can handpick the brands and products you want to receive, ensuring no repetition or disappointment. Latest in Beauty allows their customers to subscribe monthly or purchase one-off and limited edition boxes such as last year’s Beauty & the Beast Collection. A new product is added every day, but you need to act quickly as samples from high-end brands such a Benefit Cosmetics and Laura Mercier tend to sell out fast. I found a cheeky promo code online that was about to run out so treated myself to their Beauty Novice subscription package which entitles me to three products and free delivery for £9 per month. I also have the option of unsubscribing at any time.
It was really difficult selecting only three products, and now looking back on it, considering the amount of full-sized products that are currently available, I’m not entirely sure I made the right decision! For example, I could have chosen a Sally Hansen Nail Miracle Duo Pack in three different shades, a Smokey Eye Pen in Black from Rodial, a full-sized Burt’s Bee Natural Lipstick to add to my collection or a sample of the much talked about Brazilian Bum Bum Cream from Sol de Janeiro. Instead, I chose a deluxe sample of Lancome Hypnose Mascara, the world’s tiniest palette; the i-Divine All Night Long Eyeshadow Palette (confession time: I thought this was going to be full-sized, so much for no disappointment! It’s the size of a credit card) and a sample of GLAMGLOW Supermud Mask. This is the product that encouraged me to sign up in the first place.
The Supermud Mask is a product I’ve been wanting to try for months but didn’t want to invest in a full sized jar just in case it wasn’t worth the hype. I will definitely be purchasing it after using this sample. It’s hard to put my finger on what exactly I love about my skin after only a few applications but the pores on my nose looked so clear and tiny, plus my whole complexion looked bright immediately afterwards. I wasn’t expecting to be that impressed but I’m desperate to get my hands on a jar to see if this was just a fluke.
To be honest, the fact that I didn’t pay full price for this box, the impressive results of the GLAMGLOW Supermud sample and the free chocolates and cute postcard, have definitely helped chase away the January blues. Although, next time I think I’ll explore the LIB pick-list a little more thoroughly before I make my choices.
