A few weeks ago I was sent the CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat and Polish in Eternal Midnight (#254) both of which are uniquely designed to work together. Eternal Midnight is part of their beautiful new Nightspell collection and it was love at first sight. I was mesmerised by the blue hues throughout this midnight periwinkle purple shade. It’s my perfect Autumn colour. The Vinylux collection makes some big promises including increased durability with natural light, fast-drying, brilliant glossy shine and 7-day chip-resistant wear. I can’t help but eye-roll at that last part as I work in a creche; I’m constantly hand washing, taking on and off protective gloves, washing dirty snack cutlery, nappy changing, zipping jackets up, wiping noses and separating lego bricks, you know, all the things that can seriously damage your manicure.
As the shade is so dark I found that I needed three coats to get a completely opaque finish without any streaks. Because of this, I find it looks a lot darker on my nails than the swatches available online. I love the metallic blue shimmer that’s visible when the light catches it and the high-gloss finish as it adds more dimension and magic to this already beautiful shade.
I noticed a few chips at the end of day four. When I was having a bath these chips began to get bigger and I just couldn’t help but peel the entire polish off; it was just too tempting! I was surprised that the entire nail came off so easily without any remover. I then repainted the two nails that were chipped and got another two days out of my manicure before I had to start again, which is impressive considering my job.
The CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat and Polish in Eternal Midnight (£6.90 | 15ml) is now available here.
