You will always find a tub of Strawberry Body Butter in my bathroom, I always carry around the Japanese Cherry Blossom Eau de Toilette in my handbag and the Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter is one of my all-time favourite skincare products, but what about The Body Shop’s makeup collection? In my opinion, it’s seriously underrated. Here are four hidden gems that I highly recommend you try out immediately…
First up, the Lightening Shade Adjusting Drops (£10) are one of my most loved beauty products ever since I purchased them last year. These are simply a pale girl’s best friend. Picking the right shade of foundation when buying online is a skill I just can’t master and this little glass jar has become a lifesaver on many an occasion. Simply add to your mismatched foundation to lighten it up without dramatically changing the formulation. Total game changer.
The Fresh Nude Foundation (£15) is currently available in 16 shades. The Body Shop’s latest foundation contains English rose water and aloe vera. It gives a light to medium coverage and a semi-matte finish. It’s incredibly light and moisturising and contains SPF 15. What I love about it is that it gives my skin a lovely natural looking glow. My skin looks healthy, almost younger and it blends flawlessly. It gives that ultimate my-skin-but-better illusion. It’s also a dupe for my Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation and less than half the price.
The Honey Bronze Powder (£14) from The Body Shop is my go-to bronzer. The powder has a buttery soft texture and a matte finish. Shade 1 is incredibly light and blends flawlessly to give a very subtle warmth to my pasty skin. I don’t really see it as a conventional ‘bronzer’ as it doesn’t give me that ‘sun-kissed’ glow that I associate with them. It just makes me look… well… more alive! My skin is so pale that sometimes I feel that I look a bit tired and unwell, the Honey Bronze Powder gives it an untraceable warmth and instant pick-me-up. It’s so easy to blend and never looks patchy, plus it’s so light, shimmer-free and cool-toned that it’s very hard to ‘overdo’ it. It gives natural looking depth to the skin without a hint of orange anywhere in sight.
Even though any product with ‘Insta’ or ‘selfie’ in its name makes me involuntary cringe, I can forgive the All-In-One Instablur (£15) as it’s become one of my favourite primers recently. Instablur is undoubtedly a Porefessional dupe. This universal shade mattifies my skin and blurs any enlarged pores instantly. I don’t know why more people aren’t talking about it. It controls shine, creates a smooth base to apply makeup on top of and extends the wear of my foundation. What more could you ask for? Plus, it’s £11 cheaper than Porefessional and contains 3ml MORE product.
