The Drugstore Mascara Everyone’s Talking About | L’Oreal Paris Paradise Mascara

A few weeks a go I finally got my hands on the L’Oreal Paris Paradise Mascara despite it being sold out at three of the shops I tried. A lot of US beauty influencers, including Tati and Jeffree, are calling it the best drugstore mascara on the market and others claim that it’s a dupe of the Better Than Sex Mascara from Too Faced.

I was a little surprised at how small the mascara is. It contains only 6.4ml of product compared to the 9.5ml in my current favourite drugstore mascara; Maybelline’s lash Sensational. It looks pretty dinky in real life but, to be fair, I rarely use a full mascara before it expires or dries out. Pink is my favourite colour, so obviously I think the packaging is adorable, however, it comes in a flimsy cardboard carton which were all bashed and ripped in my local Superdrug which spoiled the overall look of the product and display. The price varies as it’s currently on so many offers, I picked mine up for £8.99 in Superdrug but it’s original RRP is £11.99.

This mascara claims that in a test of 107 women, 90% saw intense and volumised lashes, 98% saw a lengthening effect and 79% felt that their lashes looked and felt more supple thanks to its castor oil enriched formula. I like that you don’t have to try hard to build up volume or length. Sometimes I find myself building layer upon layer or really digging at my lash line to lift my lashes and fan them out. The ultra soft bristles glide through my lashes effortlessly, instantly coating them with pigment without any clumps. It defines my lashes and gives them a fluttery appearance leaving them still feeling soft but I don’t find the results as amazing as everyone claims. Actually, I was a little disappointed.

As you can see in the photo above it does lengthens and add volume to my lashes without making them appear spidery or overloaded with product but the effect is far from dramatic. I wasn’t as crazy in love as I was expecting to be considering the hype. It’s an okay mascara but one I’ll soon forget. I actually prefer my Lash Sensational. This gives my lashes a feathery, girly appearance whilst Lash Sensation gives instant drama and length.
