Every Saturday that my hubby isn’t working, we have a family day out just the three of us. On Saturday we took a stroll through the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh in order to expose ourselves to its horticultural excellence, definitely NOT to go Pokemon hunting. The gardens cover over 70 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds and is a tranquil haven just one mile away from the city centre. I really wanted to have a chance to practice using my new camera (a Canon EOS 1300D) and the garden’s picturesque setting seemed like the perfect place to do it. I really like how some of them came out despite my complete lack of knowledge and experience when it comes to photography. Admission into the gardens is free but you do have to pay a small fee for a chance to wander around the Glasshouse which you can find out more about here. We started off with lunch in The Terrace Cafe and then took a stroll through the gardens until the little one nodded off…
For heaven sake, please do not ask me the names of these beautiful plants. I just thought they were pretty. If you’re looking for an inexpensive day out I’d definitely recommend the gardens but next time I’ll be taking a picnic with us. It’s just a stone throw away from Stockbridge too which is one of my favourite parts of Edinburgh. It’s teeming with lovely charity shops that could almost pass for independent boutiques. They are some of the most well stocked, designed and decorated that I’ve come across and you’re sure to find some beautiful donations, especially clothes and accessories, in amazing condition without the designer price tags.
I’d love to know your favourite spots around Edinburgh. I do like visiting the odd tourist attraction like the gardens and especially the museum, but I am always up for discovering new hidden gems in the capital.
P.S. Pokemon Go players I finally caught myself a Muk and a Skarmory and took down a couple of gyms but failed miserably at trying to take down the legendary Articuno.
