Lottie London is a brand that crept onto my radar several months ago. I’d always admired their cute packaging and pastel makeup brush collection, but it wasn’t until I purchased their Shadow Swatch Palette in ‘The Rusts’ (here) that they really grabbed my attention. Lottie London is a PETA certified, cruelty-free brand that describes itself as being the “home of #trending beauty”. Their collection is influenced by current Instagram trends and includes a number of ABH and Kylie Cosmetics dupes without the designer price tags. Lottie London celebrates everything it means to love makeup in a world immersed in social media by creating affordable makeup as worn by beauty influencers, such as their beautiful Mermaid Glow Rainbow Highlighter, ‘selfie-ready’ Foundation and Slay All Day Matte Lipstick Kits.
I actually picked up the Shimmer Squad Highlighter Quad (£9.95) at ASOS after watching a video by SophDoesNails where it was swatched side by side the ABH Sun Dipped Glow Kit. The similarities looked remarkable but unfortunately, I don’t have the palette to compare. Shimmer Squad is a four piece highlighter quad that contains the shades: The Troublemaker (pearlescent silver/white), The Queen Bee (pale gold), The Good Girl (champagne rose gold) and The Flirt (bronze). The packaging is a simple but sturdy cardboard palette with a magnetic fastening and mirror inside.
Their texture is super soft and buttery and the pigmentation is beautiful. They are easy to blend and are buildable depending on what look you want to achieve. This palette caters to both those looking to add a natural luminosity to the skin AND those wanting that blinding Instagram glow. The shades are so pretty, however, they are little on the warm side. ‘The Flirt’ is way too dark for my skin tone but it makes a beautiful bronze eyeshadow. I can just about get away with the three other shades so Shimmer Squad is a no-no for really pale skin. It’s no surprise then that ‘The Troublemaker’ is my favourite shade of the four.
The formula isn’t chalky in the slightest so there is very little fallout, but they are a little on the glittery side so don’t go in too heavy-handed. They are also super long-wearing. I’m incredibly impressed with Shimmer Squad, although I wish that there was a lighter selection of shades to play about with. I have to admit, all four shades were love at first swatch.
