Festival Essentials with Urban Decay | Featuring Glitter, Glitter & More Glitter…

Who doesn’t want to sparkle this festival season? Or, well, any season for that matter? I was recently sent a festival inspired PR package from Urban Decay that had me high-pitch squealing with delight as soon as I opened it. I have to admit, when it comes to everyday makeup, I don’t tend to stray from my liquid eyeliner cat flick, smokey/neutral eye and dusky pink lip combo. So when this explosion of colour arrived on my doorstep, I was like a kid in a sweetie shop (or beauty blogger in Sephora, which is practically the equivalent).

Urban Decay Moondust Glitter Eyeshadow Palette Review

Moondust isn’t a palette I would have thought of buying in a million years, not because it isn’t beautiful (believe me it’s spectacular, just wait for the swatches) but because I’m in a bit of a makeup rut. I could drown in all the taupe eyeshadows I’ve bought recently. This injection of colour and sparkle was exactly what my makeup collection needed. As a blogger and mum who’s constantly juggling baby life, work and household chores, this palette reminded me of what it’s like to have fun with makeup again.

It was difficult to truly capture the beauty of these swatches on camera as the iridescent flecks of glitter would change and transform as the light hit them. I’d never tried the Moondust formula before and I’m so impressed with how vibrant and intense these are. They are also surprisingly smooth and easy to apply. I can see why this palette is a festival favourite, you can create mesmerising and fun looks in mear minutes by gently pressing these onto your eyes. Moondust is like nothing I personally own and has convinced me to start collecting the individual shades too.

Urban Decay also kindly sent three beautiful liners and lip toppers to take my festival look that one step further. The new Vice Special Effects Long-Lasting Water-Resistant Lip Topcoat in Regulate (£15.50) allows you to create a truly dazzling customised look with your favourite lip shades. The flexible brush applicator helps the formula glide on smoothly, without messing up your lipstick underneath. The glitter is finely milled so it’s comfortable to wear and even though the formula completely dries down it doesn’t irritate my lips or feel grainy in the slightest. I paired Regulate up with my Rimmel The Only 1 Matte Lipstick in Run The Show.

The two liners I received were the Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in ACDC (£15) and the Razor Sharp Liquid Liner in Goldrush (£17). As much as I love the glitter eyeliner, it does take a lot of building up to get a completely even and opaque finish. I can’t help compare it to the Stila Magnificant Metal Liquid Glitters which apply much more easily, although, Stila don’t currently have any shades that come close to this deep purple. The Razor Sharp Eyeliner, however, blew me away. It’s absolutely beautiful. I have very shaky hands but even I could apply this precisely thanks to the fine tip. I think this is the longest lasting eyeliner I own, it’s no joke. I needed an oil cleanser to remove this bad boy at the end of the day and there was no creasing or fading in sight. It’s literally liquid gold in a bottle.

Finally, we have three festival and everyday essentials. You can create a number of breathtaking looks without these products but by incorporating them into your routine, your makeup is sure to look and stay flawless all day long. Lip Love makes the perfect base for any matte product while I’ve already spoken about my love for my all-time favourite setting spray All Nighter (full review here) and their iconic Eyeshadow Primer Potion (full review here).
