If there’s one product that’s really changed the beauty industry over the last couple of years it has to be the Beauty Blender. That little pink sponge is iconic. Before receiving my first Beauty Blender back in 2015 as a gift for joining Birchbox, I didn’t even own a foundation brush; I just applied it with my fingers. Now, it’s my most used makeup tool in a collection of literally hundreds. It really is as good as people claim, as with my beloved Tarte Shape Tape, the hype is real. At £16 a pop and a 3-month life span, it’s safe to say I’ve tried my fair share of dupes including the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, L’Oreal Infallible Sponge, the Nanshy Marvel 4 in 1 Makeup Blending Sponge and the Tarte Quickie Blending Sponge, however, the Eco Tools Perfecting Blender Duo is the most convincing and effective dupe yet and I highly recommend you try it out.
Funnily enough, I received the Eco Tools Perfecting Blender Duo as a gift for joining another beauty box – Love Me Beauty. The pack contains a full-sized sponge and a mini version which is perfect for more precise coverage and baking with under the eyes. The sponge expands when wet, some may find it too large but I personally think it’s the perfect size. It has a round base designed for bouncing over large surface areas quickly and evenly and a wedge-like tip which allows you to apply product around your nose and around the contours of your eyes. This added touch is a godsend for blending out concealer in hard to reach places. The sponge is soft, yet firm and picks up a decent amount of product without drinking it all up. The sponge contains unique EcoFoam technology made of 70% plant based materials and is latex-free, cruelty-free and vegan.
I have to admit, with having no previous experience of Eco Tools, I wasn’t expecting to love this as much as I do. When wet, the large sponge buffs my favourite foundation (the Lancome Ultra Teint Idole) into my skin easily, seamlessly and much quicker than my Beauty Blender ever did. The RRP for the pair is £9.99 but if you do a little digging online you can find the set slightly cheaper, however, I do wish I could purchase the large sponge individually as I use it much more than the mini version.
