Finally Putting the Revlon ColorStay Creme Eye Shadows to the Test

For some reason, Revlon isn’t a brand I naturally gravitate towards in either Boots or Superdrug. Right now my interest in ‘highstreet’ makeup seems to be dominated by the L’Oreal Infallible collection, Rimmel’s #Insta range and budget-friendly brands such as e.l.f., Freedom, Makeup Revolution and MUA. It was by chance that I happened to stumble upon these ColorStay Creme Eye Shadows by Revlon at the till, but I’m so happy I did because it’s a launch I’d been waiting for since Tati’s Hot or Not video back in December. I’m not sure why it has taken so long for these to launch in the UK (Have these been out for longer? Have I been living under a rock?) and I’m also not sure why we only get six shades (3 of which I couldn’t find in Superdrug) compared to the twelve available in the US.

Revlon ColorStay Creme Eye Shadows

I see the ColorStay Creme Eye Shadows (£6.99/5.2g) as a sort of hybrid of the MAC Paint Pots and Maybelline Colour Tattoos.  I’m a fan of both but I feel that the Paint Pots are a little overpriced and that the Colour Tattoos dry out way too quickly. The Colorstay Cremes claims to wear up to 24 hours, be waterproof and be incredibly blendable and easy to apply. The lid also comes with a built-in brush which is surprisingly useful. It picks up product really well and is the perfect size to precisely apply it into the crease.

There are four finishes available: metallic, matte, pearl and satin. I picked the shades 720 Chocolate (matte taupe), 730 Praline (metallic champagne gold) and 710 Caramel (metallic bronze). I know that there’s nothing particularly groundbreaking about these colours but for me, they are key shades in my collection. These can literally be pressed onto your lid with the brush included or even you finger tip in seconds and look beautiful. They set without feeling heavy or drying and in plenty of time for you to quickly blend without looking patchy. They are very creamy, almost a little wet at first so I was really surprised by how long lasting they are. I can wear these all day and have no visible creasing or fading when I go to remove them at night.

The ColorStay Creme Eye Shadow collection is perfect if you’re looking for a neutral, quick, fuss-free look that will last all day. If you would like to see swatches of the other shades available (Creme Brulee, Black Current and Licorice are also available online at both Boots and Superdrug) you can find Tati’s video, which first introduced me to the collection, here.

I’m definitely impressed with the ColorStay Creme Eye Shadow collection so far and after visiting the Revlon counter and swatching their ColorStay Foundation and Ultra HD Matte Lip Color lipsticks, I think I have reignited my interest in the brand. I can see a Revlon haul on the horizon…
