I mean, how could I not buy this? Did you read my original review of the Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Charming Pink? If not, it’s available here. To cut the long story short it’s my favourite highlighter, which is a very bold claim I know. I was about to purchase the shade Peach Glow but when I stumbled across this limited edition shade on Cult Beauty to celebrate Laura Geller’s 20th Anniversary – how could I resist? The collection also includes an Easy Illuminating Stick also in Diamond Dust, Colour Luster Lipgloss in City Lights, Color Brilliance Lipstick in Tropics, Pucker Up Lipstick Kit and Laura’s Star Performance Full Size Bronzer and Foundation Set.
I love the combination of pastel pink and grey on the outer packaging and the shattered glass/diamond effect. Inside, the highlighter is in the same basic plastic compact as the originals with the 3D design on top inspired by Laura’s favourite Italian dessert. Just like Charming Pink, its hybrid texture applies like a sheer powder but feels as soft as a cream. It gives such a pretty luminous highlight that lasts all day. Even though the pan contains only 4.5g of product, only the tiniest amount is needed to instantly brighten your complexion, plus it makes for a stunning eyeshadow when applied in the inner corner.
The shade name is perfect, this really does look like a dusting of crushed diamonds across your skin. The frustrating thing about this highlighter is how difficult it is to capture its beauty on camera. It looks like a frosty silver in the pan but its duochrome formula moves with the light to reveal a holographic blue-pink that also shifts to violet. It really is beautiful. Unlike the other shades in the Baked Gelato collection, there isn’t anything subtle about Diamond Dust – this definitely has the wow factor and isn’t for the faint-hearted.
Diamond Dust gives the highest points of your face an ethereal luminosity that really is mesmerising. Only a tiny amount is needed as it’s richly pigmented and makes a beautiful inner corner eyeshadow that really makes your eyes pop. As much as I adore this highlighter, I have to admit it’s not the kind of everyday product that you’re going to get a lot of use out of. However, if you love beauty, Laura Geller or everything holographic, Diamond Dust is incredibly special and might be the one thing missing from your collection.
