When asked what my favourite ever eyeshadow palette is, not one but four spring to mind. I own some beautiful palettes full of shimmering cranberry’s, dazzling blues and emeralds, but in all honesty, my most beloved palettes contain a collection of easy-to-wear nudes, bronzes, pinks and golds in a range of different finishes. These are the palettes I use almost every day, as I can always rely on their rich pigmentation to blend flawlessly. I have a huge collection of palettes stored away in drawers and storage boxes but these babies sit proudly on my dressing table…
Let’s start with the only Too Faced palette I currently own, the scrumptiously scented Sweet Peach Eye Shadow Collection. Sweet Peach contains 18 ‘antioxidant-rich’ shades (1.5g per pan) and retails for £39. The palette comes in a tin with a magnetic fastening, a mirror and a ‘Glamour Guide’ that features step-by-step instructions for three looks including; Smouldering Peach, Peaches & Cream and Southern Belle.
I initially thought this palette was incredibly gimmicky, however, it completely deserves the hype surrounding it. Yes, there are one or two shades that could be improved and I understand people’s criticisms that a couple of the neutral shades could be replaced with more vibrant peach tones to take it over the edge, however, I fell in love with this palette from the very first swatch. The adorably named shades inside (with the exception of Candied Peach and Delectable) are jaw-droppingly beautiful, easy to blend and, with a little Shadow Insurance underneath, incredibly long lasting and crease-proof. Next up, a surprisingly affordable palette from the US which I was introduced to by NikkieTutorials, the Juvia’s Place Nubian Eyeshadow Palette. The Nubian eyeshadow palette features a range of beautiful neutrals with slightly more warmer coppery tones than others in my collection. They are highly pigmented (the shimmers have a dazzling foiled appearance) and their buttery soft texture allows them to blend flawlessly. The swatches speak for themselves. I do wish the darker mattes were a bit less patchy, however, overall I am blown away with the almost metallic, intense finish of the shimmers. Considering the quality of these eyeshadows this palette is incredibly affordable, retailing at only $25. You need to see these swatches to be believed. The shimmers, in particular, are the most intense I own. To see every breathtaking shade swatched you can read my original review here.
Ever since Kat Von D launched in the UK I have been obsessed with the entire collection. Kat was inspired to create the Shade And Light Eyeshadow Palette after years of trying to capture shadows and light within her portraits. She has perfectly selected a mixture of neutral, cool and warm shades that can be used to create simple everyday looks in minutes. I love matte eyeshadows, however, they often have the tendency to be chalky or less pigmented compared to shimmers, metallics and satins; the ‘filler’ shades if you will. Every pan in this palette is super pigmented with a smooth even texture that’s easy to blend. The palette contains the most richly pigmented matte white, black and rust shades I own, for full swatches click here.
I have used the Tarte Tartelette 2 in Bloom 12 piece shadow collection and brush every day since I purchased them from QVC. It has the same delicious white chocolate scent as my mini Tease palette and all shades are beautifully creamy. Each pan contains 1.5g of product. There are 9 mattes & 3 lustres and the palette itself includes a full-size mirror. It’s made out of plastic which isn’t the most luxurious considering the price, but this makes it incredibly lightweight and perfect for travelling with. The combination of shades is perfection. I’ve used every single one. The colour payoff is beautiful with stunning colour payoff. Tarte’s signature Amazonian clay formula is easy to blend and also very long lasting. The is my perfect ‘everyday palette’; it never disappoints. It contains a beautiful inner highlight (Champagne), a warm taupe that’s so good I’ve nearly hit pan (Jetsetter) and a bronze copper (Firecracker) that needs to be seen to be believed (full swatches here).
My palettes are my babies and it was almost impossible to narrow my collection down to just four. Honourable mentions go to the Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette, Tarte Tartlette Tease Palette and the Colour Pop HiMaintenence Collection.
