If I had to choose only one moisturiser to use for the rest of my life, it would be hands down the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream, with the Antipodes Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Cream coming in a close second. The Ultra Facial Cream is everything I look for in a moisturiser; it ticks every box. The packaging isn’t particularly luxurious, it has a fresh scent but nothing overly florally or pungent and it doesn’t contain any gimmicky ingredients, however, this bestselling award-winning moisturiser is loved by both women and men, and I completely understand why.
The cream is available in two sizes, £24.50 for 50ml and £45 for 125ml. It’s obviously not the most affordable moisturiser around, but personally, skincare is an area where I don’t mind spending a bit extra, especially if it’s a product that I’ve been using for years and I know works for my skin. Thankfully, a little of this product goes a long way so it’s not a huge catastrophe if I can’t spring for the larger pot, even though it works out better value in the long run. I’ve always found the staff in Kiehl’s stores to be very helpful and knowledgeable, so it might be worth asking for a sample if you’re a little hesitant about investing in a full sized jar.
This moisturiser provides 24-hour hydration in even the harshest of weather conditions, it was actually used during a 2005 expedition by six explorers who completed the first-ever ascent of Greenland’s ice covered peaks. Incredibly, it’s still very lightweight and absorbs easily considering the protection it provides; my skin drinks this up and instantly feels better for it.
Its unique combination of ingredients (which include Squalane, a highly refined moisturising oil, and Imperata Cylindrica that contains water retaining properties) helps reduce moisture loss while drawing and absorbing moisture from the air. I have dry patches on and around my eyes and cheeks but an oily forehead, chin and nose, so finding the right skincare products that work for my mismatched needs can prove really difficult. The Ultra Facial Cream manages to keep my skin visibly well-balanced and harmonious. It leaves my skin feeling soft whilst soothing dry areas and doesn’t leave any greasy residue.
I’ve tried many, many moisturisers over the years as I’m a skincare hoarder and curiosity always gets the better of me, plus it comes with the territory of being a beauty blogger, however, I always find myself coming back to the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream. There’s nothing negative I can think of to say about this product. It’s an underrated gem that everyone should own.
