Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil | Bye-Bye Panda Eyes, Hello Beauty Sleep

There’s a new cleanser in the Kiehl’s family, and it smells heavenly. The original Midnight Recovery Concentrate is an overnight anti-ageing sensation (read my full review here) and now there are two new additions to the collection: the Midnight Recovery Eye Treatment and the Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil. I love the design of this trio, all three products feature the same royal blue and apothecary-style packaging that helped to make the original concentrate so iconic in the first place. This trio is designed to be used as part of your nighttime routine to help visibly restore the appearance of your skin by morning; basically to help give you the best beauty sleep of your life!

I have combination skin and I used to be really wary about using oil-based products; I spend half my life battling shine and creating the illusion of matte skin – why would I risk adding more grease? What I love about this cleansing oil is that it contains a non-comedogenic formula. I’ve been using is for over five weeks now and I’m yet to suffer from any breakouts. It’s incredibly lightweight and emulsifies with water to become a cleansing milk. It gently dissolves my makeup in seconds with minimal fuss without completely stripping my skin and leaving it feeling tight or uncomfortable afterwards thanks to its soap-free formula.

The Botanical Cleansing Oil contains an aromatic blend of Squalane, a planted-derived moisturising lipid; evening primrose oil, which is rich in Omega-6 Fatty Acids; and calming lavender essential oil. Only 2-3 pumps are needed to remove my makeup and cleanse my skin. If I’m wearing particularly stubborn mascara I just put a little on a cotton wool pad and let it soak in for a few seconds and wipe. It doesn’t leave any greasy residue or leftover panda eyes. It’s a dream to apply and the soothing scent of lavender before bedtime helps me to drift off.

I used to be a huge fan of The Body Shop’s Camomile Cleansing Oil (it’s still an effective and affordable dupe) but since using this I have been completely converted. Not only have I noticed a change in the softness and texture of my skin, but I have also noticed that my skin looks more radiant. I’ve actually received compliments on how clear and glowy my skin looks since using this!

The Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil retails for £32/175g and is available to purchase here.
