Last weekend I was a very lucky girl indeed. My husband, knowing the Kiehl’s is one of my favourite skincare brands, surprised me with a beautifully wrapped gift box full of products. He had been on a night out with the lads and had won a tidy little sum at the casino the night before, so confused and slightly hungover he visited the Kiehl’s store in search of something to win me over. He heard me ‘go on’ in the past about the miracle worker that is the “Midnight Concentrate thing” and that I was running low, but other than that he was utterly clueless. Thankfully, the lovely staff at the Edinburgh store were incredibly helpful and friendly. He even ended up treating himself to a new beard oil that I’m trying to convince him to review! Apparently, the sales assistant that served him was very patient and knowledgeable about every product he asked about and even gave him a few cheeky samples for us to try.
Along with the Midnight Recovery Concentrate, the box also contained the Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil and deluxe samples of their Tumeric & Cranberry Seed Energising Radiance Mask and Midnight Recover Eye along with a sachet of their Mirco-Blur Skin Perfector. I’ve almost finished my Camomile Cleansing Oil from The Body Shop so I am so excited to try their new Botanical Oil. It smells heavenly and I’ve read many, many positive reviews about it. For now, let’s take a closer look at Kiehl’s UK’s #1 best-selling product – the Midnight Recovery Concentrate…
As a blogger, I test many skincare products; many of which I like but wouldn’t necessarily be in a rush to repurchase. There are some products, however, that stand the test of time. There are products that I return to time and time again that I often take for granted, the concentrate is definitely one of these products, along with Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream. If they are so great then why haven’t I reviewed them sooner? Perhaps it’s because there’s nothing flash about the packaging, there are no gimmicks, there’s no celebrity endorsement that I am aware of and there’s the fact that they have both been out for years. None of this is bad, in fact, it’s incredibly positive. Kiehl’s don’t rely on gimmicks; they don’t have to. Their products have been developed and perfected over 165 years and their formulas use only the finest naturally-derived ingredients including steam-distilled lavender essential oil.
As I have oily skin, I’ve always been a bit wary of adding oil based products to my routine but actually, I’ve come to discover my skin actually loves them. This lightweight elixir is simply a miracle worker. It isn’t greasy and absorbs very quickly into the skin without leaving any residue. It’s delicately scented with lavender but it’s not overpowering. The packaging is relatively simple but I love it as the blue bottle and glass pipette remind me of an old apothecary.
I apply just a few drops of this every night and in the morning the texture of my skin feels more refined, toned and looks radiant. My skin tone also appears more even. I’ve never found this to break me out or irritate my skin, it just leaves it looking it’s very best. The concentrate contains a blend of Squalane, Evening Primrose Oil and lavender oil and works by enhancing your skin’s natural night-time recovery process. It really is a game changer and I can’t recommend it highly enough. It does come with a price tag that reflects all the wonderful ingredients inside but in my opinion, it’s worth it. It has always been a product I have never once felt guilty about splurging on as I believe it’s worth every penny.
The Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate retails from £38/30ml and is available to purchase here.
