Today I thought I’d share with you a few of my most recent beauty purchases in a haul post. Even though I’ve been playing around with all of these products for the last few weeks, I feel I still need a little more time to form my final thoughts. This is just a small collection of all the lovely goodies stacked by my bedside and a taste of what you can expect in the next couple of weeks on The Beautiful Bluebird.
Recently I was very kindly invited to Glasgow Fort for a day of dining, shopping and pampering, which you can read all about here. I picked up a few products in Kiko Milano including three mascaras from their False Lashes Concentrate Collection. So far I’ve been loving my new Rimmel Volume Shake Mascara (review coming very soon) and the last thing I was needing was another (let alone three) but I couldn’t resist as these were on promotion for only £3.90 each (usually £7.20). I picked up the Curling, Lengthening and Volume mascaras. I love the packaging but I think you’ll agree, that they all have very ‘unique’ wands.
I love trying exciting new (slightly gimmicky) products and two that I was extremely curious about where the NYX First Base Primer Spray (£7/60ml) and The Body Shop Drops of Light Resurfacing Liquid Peel (£18/145ml). The spray claims to smooth and prep skin for flawless makeup application and I’m hoping it’s a dupe for Urban Decays Quick Fix. I’ve been really enjoying using the resurfacing peel, however, I’ve been limiting myself to only using exfoliators, peels and mask twice a week to give me skin a bit of a break recently, so I definitely need a bit more time with this product. I’ve never used anything like this before. Simply massage two pumps of this onto your face for up to 20 seconds until it starts to ‘ball’up’. You can feel the residue start to form and then you wash off. A strange but marvellous product, I just wish it was a little cheaper. Is it just me or have The Body Shop seriously increased their prices?
Next up we have two products I’ve been wearing for the past week and have absolutely been loving: the Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder (£15/28g) and The Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation in Bora Bora (£15/30ml). I’m not going to say much about these two base products as I have detailed reviews coming your way shortly, I’ll just say this: I am seriously impressed with this combination; they are two of my favourite buys of the past month.
Finally, I picked up the Honey Bronze Bronzing Power in 01 (£14/11g) from The Body Shop. This was recommended to me on Twitter as one of the best ‘drugstore’ (although does £14 qualify as a ‘drugstore’ price?) bronzers for pale skin. The bronzer is available in 7 shades and claims to give a natural-looking sunkissed matte finish.
I’d love to know if you have tried any of these products before. Have you treated yourself to any new skincare or makeup products recently? Don’t forget to leave a comment below as I love reading all your recommendations and opinions.
