I’m always on a mission to find new blemish fighting treatments. Balance Me Congested Skin Serum (£16/15ml)
Balance Me has been a favourite skin care brand of mine for years now and while their packaging may have undergone a makeover since I purchase this, their natural high-performance formulas are still just as effective. This is a daily face serum, however, I use it where and when I need it, usually when I can feel that nasty tingling sensation or when I notice a red bump starting to form. I pop this fast-acting gel on top which immediately calms any redness and soothes the area. It contains lavender and eucalyptus, soothing Roman Chamomile and anti-bacterial May Chang to clear the congestion. It’s a lifesaver and I keep this travel-sized version in my handbag at all times so I can zap any zits on-the-go.
Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask (£24.99/75ml)
This is a creamy, luxurious mask that leaves skin feeling soft, plump and hydrated. I find that masks designed to treat blemish-prone skin usually come with an intense smell like tea tree, witch hazel or some other kind of potent antibacterial ingredient, but that’s not the case with the Aura mask; it doesn’t feel or smell like a blemish treatment at all. It has a delicate fragrance of vanilla and mandarin and helps keep my skin clear but doesn’t completely strip it of moisture. If you have combination skin I also recommend trying their Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Cream and their non-greasy Divine Avocado and Rosehip Oil.
S5 Purity Serum for Blemish Prone Skin (£44/30ml)
S5 Skincare believes in solving skin problems naturally. Their collection contains 5 treatment serums that harness ingredients from the 5 most extreme ecosystems on the planet: The Arctic, The Desert, The Rainforest, The High Altitude Regions and The Sea. All S5 products are EcoCert certified organic and contain only 100% natural ingredients. The Purity serum is designed to reduce the appearance of spots and pores. It can be applied directly to the face but I like to add few drops to my favourite moisturiser to enhance its blemish banishing abilities.
I find that this combination of products helps to treat my blemishes effectively, keeps my dry patches hydrated, doesn’t add any excess oil and doesn’t strip it completely. Anyone else feel that finding the right skin care routine can be a bit a juggling act sometimes?
