Cute & Affordable Storage | How I Organise My Makeup

There’s something about starting a new year that makes me want to declutter and reorganise. I am a serial makeup hoarder. I constantly ignore use-by-dates and purchase the same shades of lipstick over and over again. I am also lucky enough to receive and purchase A LOT of makeup and skincare products that, sadly, are sometimes not up to scratch – do I bin them? Do I heck. They just get added to the collection. I also hoard empty packaging, who knows when I’ll finally get around to writing that ’empties’ post, right? Enough was enough. I made it my mission to use up all the random sachets and samples I had accumulated and throw out all those gloopy nail polishes and clumpy mascaras. I even took a pack of baby wipes to the inside of my makeup bag and dressing table drawers which were both caked by my recently exploded Mary Lou Manizer.

I picked up a pair of white planters with lace detailing from Ikea for only £2 (available here) and divided my brushes and eye products into each one. I binned the brushes I couldn’t make work (including many, many Primark ones) and scrapped a few disappointing eye products including the KIKO Graphic Eyeliner and Soap & Glory Kick into Neutral Palette. I am currently looking for a new brush set, so if you have any recommendation please leave them down below. I’m not sure whether to invest in a few MAC brushes over the next couple of months or buy a full set of Zoeva or Spectrum ones with my birthday money. I also found a ‘candy cart’ style glass jar from Home Bargains to hold all my sponges.

I came across a set of three clear organiser drawers in Newlook (£14.99, available here). Each drawer can hold approximately 15 full sized lipsticks and is perfect for easy access to all my lip products. On top of that is a smaller makeup holder that I picked up from Primark; both sit on my dressing table. I also received a ZPalette for my Christmas to store all my lovely Makeup Geek eyeshadows and blushers (which I am hoping to have all swatched and reviewed for you next month once I filled it completely) and a new makeup bag to hold all my face masks including several Garnier Moisture Bombs and my new set of Tony Moly sheet masks.
