Over two months ago I made my first ever ColourPop order. This was just a few weeks before the release of their new collection of pressed eyeshadows and even though I’m kicking myself that I didn’t wait just a few more days, I’m excited to finally put their iconic Super Shock Shadow formula to the test. I picked up their limited edition Peachy Keen foursome for $18 and used the $5 off coupon I received for signing up to their emails. I used MyMallBox, a package forwarding company that helps ship American products to international users and didn’t encounter any additional custom fees.
I wanted to pick up a selection of warm-toned neutrals that complimented each other so I thought I was best picking up one of their value sets and Peachy Keen appealed most to me. Peachy Keen contains four of ColourPop’s best-selling Super Shock Shadows in Crimper (a metallic gold), Bandit (a matte warm rusty brown), Cornelious (a matte warm caramel) and Kennedy (matte peach). As far as I can tell Cornelious and Bandit are permanent to the collection and Kennedy and Crimper are limited edition. Each pan contains 2.1g of product and individually retails for $5 each.
The formula is like nothing I’ve ever tried before. It’s very soft and bouncy in its little white tub. It’s like putty or memory foam when you press your finger into it and feels almost damp. I’ve heard that it’s recommended you place the lid back on very tightly after use as they have a tendency to dry out very quickly. They swatch like absolute perfection. The pigmentation is unreal and they are incredibly long-lasting.

Although they finger swatch beautifully, I found them a little tricky to apply at first. There was hardly any colour payoff when I used my brush to apply Crimper and I was disappointed that I had bought into the hype. I went back onto the ColourPop website to try and find out where I was going wrong. ColourPop suggest using your fingertip to tap the shadow onto the eyelid for maximum coverage. They also suggest using a flat, fine tip synthetic brush to apply close to the lashline and a fluffy brush and blending out in a “windshield wiper” movement to diffuse and blend.
I used ‘Peaches & Cream’ from my Too Faced Sweet Peach palette as a base and then used a little of Cornelious in the crease with my Spectrum B06 (tall tapered blender brush). I added a little Bandit to darken the outer crease and then used my Spectrum A07 (small flat shader) to pack on Kennedy over the entire lid and then added Crimper to the centre of the lid with my finger and the inner corner with a dampened pencil brush.
I love how harmoniously all four shades work together, although I do wish Kennedy was a little ‘peachier’ as Kennedy and Cornelious actually translate as similar shades on the eye. Crimper is a beautiful shade although it really has to be applied by your finger. They all blend beautifully together, give no fallout and are incredibly long-lasting and easy to apply with the right know how.
