I’ve truly fallen down the Charlotte Tilbury rabbit hole. My obsession started with the beautiful Secret Selma and elegant Kidman’s Kiss Matte Revolution Lipsticks from their Hot Lips collection, continued with the limited edition Instant Look in a Palette in Natural Beauty and, more recently, with the Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder. Today, I’m sharing my thoughts on the Light Wonder Youth-Boosting Perfect Skin Foundation in their lightest shade 1 Fair.
What I love about Charlotte Tilbury is that it is relatively easy to select a shade of foundation, even if you don’t have access to one of their counters. Light Wonder comes in 10 shades and each has a model wearing the foundation; simply choose the one closest to your skintone. What you might not know about CT is that they are very generous with their free samples. This foundation came with three lipstick samples and a sample of their new Scent of a Dream perfume. You also get to choose an additional two samples at the checkout. I chose sachets of their Wonder Glow Beauty Flash Primer and Goddess Skin Clay Mask. Previously, when I ordered my lipstick I added two samples of this foundation in both 1 Fair and 2 Fair to try out, unsurprisingly, I was a match for the palest of the two.
Light Wonder has an incredibly lightweight formula that is very natural looking and slightly dewy. It blends easily, covering any discolouration, blurs pores and blends seamlessly. It’s recommended for dry, normal and combination skin types and contains SPF 15.
The foundation contains a “…botanical alternative to retinol that stimulates epidermal renewal by kick-starting collagen production, delaying the onset of wrinkles and creating a perfect make-up base”. Whilst I can’t comment on its anti-aging properties just yet, Light Wonder definitely gives the skin a youthful-looking glow and is very hydrating.
I love the flawless, almost airbrushed, appearance Light Wonder gives my skin, however, I have combination skin and several hours in, the foundation started to move and break away from my nose which is disappointing. I can’t recommend this foundation highly enough for normal to dry skin types but it may pose a problem for combination to oily ones. I can make it work, but only with the help of a lot of powder, setting spray and touchups throughout the day; which isn’t ideal. This is by no means a bad foundation and I will still continue to wear it as the rest of my face looks flawless, however, I can’t help but think that the CT Magic Foundation might be a better fit for my skin type.
The Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Youth-Boosting Perfect Skin Foundation retails for £32/40ml and is available here.
