As much as I love Benefit makeup (as a teenager their Badgal mascara was my first ever ‘high-end’ makeup purchase) I am really disappointed with this year’s Christmas collection. I think it looks childish and verging on cheap. I’m also not sure who the collection is aimed at. The design of their ‘Girl O’Clock Rock’ calendar looks like something straight out of a Jacqueline Wilson novel and even sings a song when opened which includes the lyrics, “Sexy surfer at 9 o’clock, Skater stud at 10, Badboy rocker’s at 11, It’s 12, Gimmie all the men!”. Talk about alienating any customer over the age of 13 and anyone who *shock* doesn’t wear makeup to pick up men. At £34.50, what teenager can afford this anyway? The entire message, design and concept behind this collection makes me cringe, however, I do love this little festive treat instead…
Available at Boots (instore and online) you can now purchase this cute Christmas stocking and fill it with four Benefit minis for £15. Minis include; Badgal mascara, Posietint (4ml), Benetint (4ml), High Beam (4ml), Dandelion lip gloss (7ml), Facial Emulsion (9ml), Boi-ing & Eye Bright mini kit, That Gal highlighting primer (7.5ml), Badgal liner, It’s Potent eye cream and mini POREfessional primer.
Unfortunately, samples of bestselling products such as the They’re Real mascara, primer & liner, Hoola, Rollerlash, Dandelion Blusher and POREfessional Matte Rescue Primer are not included in this offer as they are only available as ‘deluxe’ samples which retail for 3 for £25, which I think is a little on the steep side. This is a fun way to treat any beauty lover this Christmas and even introduce a teenager to Benefit makeup without the dodgy ‘wearing makeup will make boys like you’ undertones.
