Applying makeup can often feel repetitive and time-consuming, almost like a chore. I very rarely get the opportunity to have fun with makeup nowadays and Halloween is always the perfect excuse to try something a little more bold and daring. Many of you already know that I am a huge fan of the British Beauty Blogger and during one of her live Facebook chats (which I recommend you join in with here) she hosted a giveaway featuring the new NYX Cosmic Metals Lip Creams and I was lucky enough to get my hands on the shade Galactic.
Galactic, although stunning, isn’t for the faint-hearted. Let’s be honest, I’m not about to pop down to the bakers to get the morning rolls wearing this bad boy but as a makeup fanatic I definitely appreciate it’s beauty. My experience with NYX lip formulas so far has been mixed. I loved the creaminess of the Liquid Suede collection (review here), however, hated the flakiness and cakey appearance of the Lip Lingerie range.
Available in 11 vibrant shades, including an electric blue, bright green and Barbie pink, these cream lipsticks retail for £7. Galactic is different from any other product I have ever tried and it’s simply beautiful. The multidimensional metallic finish is dazzling and although they are glossy, they aren’t overly sticky or heavy.
My only qualm with Galactic is that the packaging is a little deceptive. This tube contains only 4ml, but is substantially larger than their Butter Glosses which contain twice as much product. Nevertheless, I honestly can’t believe these aren’t talked about more. NYX is once again proving that drugstore makeup can be just as innovative and effective as ‘high-end’ products minus the often ridiculous designer price tag. The intense pigment of this product is sure to turn heads this Halloween and if like me you are starting to fall into a makeup rut, these cream lipsticks are sure to inject a little fun into your collection, as well as inspire a whole range of daring and dramatic looks.
The NYX Cosmic Metals Lip Creams are available here and retail for £7/4ml.
