Primark P.S. Lip Liner Pencil Collection | Review & Swatches

It was only a few weeks ago that I discovered and fell instantly in love with my local Primark’s in-store beauty collection. I returned just few days ago and came across some more interesting products such as their foundation sticks, loose powders and contour crayons, unfortunately, all the shades left were far too dark for me. Instead, I left with five beautiful shades of pencil lip liners all retailing for only £1 each.

One thing that nearly put me off diving into the makeup stand in Primark, is that it had been utterly ransacked by shoppers. Each pencil is protected by only a thin, easily tearable, price tag and I found it difficult to find the shades I was looking for that weren’t already tampered with in some way. It’s a shame because this must put a lot of potential customers off and makes the brand itself look unprofessional and cheap. However, I’m glad I persevered because I love all five shades that I managed to rescue from the grubby, makeup smeared display.

Primark P.S. Lip Liner Pencil Collection | Review & Swatches

As I’ve mentioned before, I really like the packaging of the P.S. range. I feel like some in-store beauty brands, such as ASDA and Next, really missed the boat when it came to designing a sleek, well thought-out collection. Primark, however, have nailed it with each product’s simple but chic black matte and gold foil finish. Each shade is also easy to identify thanks to their colour coded caps, I just wish the name of each shade was on the side of the product instead of the price tag.

(Left to Right) 10 Brown, 08 Candy Pink, 13 Wine, 03 Red, 15 Light Pink and 01 Nude.

Brown is deep, chocolatey and applies like a dream! It’s incredibly pigmented and I just had to have it, even though I don’t actually own any brown lipsticks. Makeup hoarder alert, I know.

Candy Pink is more of a peachy nude than a pink. It is the perfect match for my MAC Shy Girl.

Wine is a stunning plum shade which, I’ll admit, doesn’t feature heavily in my current lipstick collection but it’s a shade I will definitely experiment with more come Autumn.

Red is a beautiful statement cherry red that really pops and prevents my favourite red lipsticks from bleeding throughout the day.

Light Pink is a pretty Barbie pink shade.

Nude was the first pencil I picked up a few weeks ago. It’s a classic shade that every makeup collection needs. I was really impressed with it’s pigmentation and how well it lasted throughout the day. It’s the perfect partner to my favourite nude lipstick, MAC Modesty.

All give a long lasting matte finish and are really easy to apply. They are so creamy and pigmented that you don’t have to drag them across your lips, the colour payoff is instant. I can’t recommend the P.S. lip liner collection highly enough. These liners are incredibly underrated and even though the colour variation is limited, I’m positive you’ll find at least a few shade matches. It’s also worth mentioning that all shades come with accompanying Velvet Matte Lipstick Crayons which I can’t wait to get my hands on next.

What do you think of the selection of beauty products at your local Primark?

Do you think any of these shades could be potential matches with a lip product in your current collection?
