It’s finally happened, NYX has officially arrived in Edinburgh! No more dodgy online swatches and waiting for online delivery, I now have the entire collection at my fingertips. I wasn’t too sure what to pick up at first as there were so many products on my wishlist, but I finally left the counter with a basket full of butter glosses, setting sprays, blushers, bronzers and base products.
The product I will be sharing with you today is the NYX Mineral Stick Foundation (£10.50/6g). I’ve been wanting to try the Makeup Forever Ultra HD Stick Foundation for a while now so was excited to stumble across this potential dupe for nearly a third of the price. There are 15 shades available and MSF01 Fair appeared to be the lightest and my best match. As with all NYX products, the foundation contains a cruelty-free formula and comes in their signature glossy black packaging.
The foundation is clearly very travel-friendly and perfect for popping into your handbag to apply on the go. The formula is very creamy which makes it incredibly easy to blend, however, it’s so creamy it almost feels a touch too oily and I found myself using an awful lot of their HD Finishing Powder to keep it in place and stop it from settling into creases. The foundation is buildable, but I personally need to use a lot of product in order to get my desired coverage, as it’s surprisingly sheer.
I honestly think the Mineral Stick makes a better contouring product than foundation. Next time I going to buy a darker shade and use it to add definition to my face rather than use it as an all over base product. I’ll continue to dip into this product until it’s finished (which I don’t think will take very long) as it’s by no means an awful product. It’s easy to apply, a dream to blend and its texture is very soft, I’m just looking for a base product with higher coverage and a slightly more matte finish.
The NYX Mineral Stick Foundation retails for £10.50/6g.
