MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighters | Review & Swatches

I’ve been waiting for what feels like months for Superdrug to get these MUA highlighters back in stock. There are currently four shades available: Opalescent Amber, Radiant Cashmere, Iridescent Gold and Pink Skimmer (£3 each). I picked up Pink Shimmer, a pretty pearlescent pink, and Iridescent Gold, a slightly cooler version of my all-time favourite highlighter, the iconic Mary Lou Manizer.

I’ve become a little highlighter obsessed recently. If money was no object I’d ideally be reviewing either the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector or Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit today, however, even though she isn’t born yet, my baby girl has rather expensive taste in clothes so, for now, I’ll just mentally add them to my Christmas list and move on.

Made from cheap white plastic with a clear lid, the packaging is very practical and basic. It doesn’t wow me, but at £3 I’m not really expecting anything remarkable here, it’s really all about the product inside. When swatching with my finger I was a little disappointed by how hard and dry the formula was. I’m used to a more buttery texture from my Mary Lou, but regardless I was impressed with the pigmentation of both colours. At first the highlighter might seem a little too subtle but I love how it delicately shimmers on the skin without being overly glittery. I’m not going for a disco ball look after all, but if I was, both shades are incredibly buildable depending on how dramatic or soft you want your look to be. It gives a beautiful luminosity that really brightens your whole complexion to give a more healthy looking glow to your face.

I like to use my fluffy Morphe M510 (review here) to apply my highlighter. I tend to concentrate on just my cheekbones and cupids bow, however, as with most highlighters, both shades are incredibly versatile and you could use both anywhere you’d like to add a bit of sun kissed glow to. I love how both shades look although I find myself reaching for Iridescent Gold more so than Pink Shimmer as it seems to help brighten up my under eye area and give my pale skin a little more warmth. At only £3 each I’m really impressed with these two highlighters. Even though the formula is a little dryer and the texture not as soft as my beloved Mary Lou Manizer, I love how delicate and pretty both shades are. They last well throughout the day, are easy to blend and give my complexion a stunning, delicate luminescent glow without making me look like I’ve rolled around in glitter all morning.
