I picked up a bottle of Rimmel London’s Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation with Comfort Serum after watching my first ever Estee Lalonde tutorial on YouTube. I’m aware of the names of well-known and ‘famous’ beauty vloggers and bloggers but in all honesty, I tend to stick to a small handful of my favourite UK beauty gurus who I follow on Twitter for all my beauty needs. As much as I adore Jeffree Starr and NikkiTutorials, I usually just watch their videos to help hone in on my application techniques and to gawp at all the pretty things they use. A lot of the products aren’t very accessible or would cost a small fortune in shipping fees for me to get my hands on, however, I can’t deny, it’s my guilty pleasure to watch Jeffree review a $200 pot of La Prairie Skin Caviar Foundation and sit there fizzing with jealousy. Anyway, I was so excited to discover that Estee reviews a lot of drugstore products as well as high-end a-girl-can-dream lust-worthy products. When she used this foundation in a Spring makeup tutorial I knew I had to try it…
Now, I know I just reviewed the NARS Sheer Glow foundation but, at £33 a bottle, I’ve decided to keep this for special occasions so I have still been searching for an everyday drugstore base I wouldn’t be too scared to use. The Lasting Finish Foundation comes in a hefty 30ml glass bottle with a pump applicator and claims to last for up to 25 hours. Who actually wears a foundation for 25 hours? I definitely don’t, so I can’t really comment on this, but I can state that it remains flawless for the max of 12 hours I tend to wear it for. This is incredible considering that the formula is full coverage but doesn’t feel heavy like Estee Lauder’s industrial strength Double Wear. It’s incredibly lightweight and so comfortable to wear thanks to its added ‘comfort serum’.
The shade 010 Light Porcelain is the lightest shade of the seven available and is the perfect match to my skin tone, and I mean PERFECT. This is one of the main reasons I have fallen completely head-over-heals for this product. I prefer to buff the foundation into my skin with my RT buffing brush and then go over this, patting it into my skin with the base of my Nanshy Marvel 4 in1 Makeup Sponge to get an even, flawless coverage. It does an amazing job of covering the discolouration under my nose, visible pores and scaring, whilst evening out my skin tone and giving a very natural, slightly dewy, looking finish.
I am very impressed with this foundation and think it’s seriously underrated. I actually prefer it to my NARS Sheer Glow! The colour match is incredible, its longevity is seriously impressive and it sits comfortably on my skin all day without leaving it feeling overly caked or dry.
The Rimmel London Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation with Comfort Serum retails for £7.99/30ml and is available here.
