I’m sad to say that I’ve been a little disappointed with Collection recently. I found both their Speedy Highlighter and Highlight & Sculpt Contour Kit rather underwhelming despite my high expectations. However, I was a huge fan of the original Eyes Uncovered Palettes when they were first released in their Nude and Nude Grey colour combinations so I snapped up the Nude Rose collection in hopes it would be of the same high quality as the rest of it’s family.
The palette’s basic cardboard packaging is notorious for getting covered in fingerprints and not very durable, but I appreciate it keeps it’s retail value down and I think the simple black and gold design actually looks very understated and chic. It comes with a magnetic fastening and a double headed sponge applicator which has never been my makeup tool of choice but is handy for using on the go.
The combination of rose gold and nude shimmers reminds me slightly of the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. The palette consists of 6 shades: a pretty pearl highlighting shade, a golden peach, a rose gold, a pink-hued bronze, a warmer chocolate brown and dark black with red undertones, which doesn’t really seem to go with the collection but I will still use regardless. There was a little fallout when I applied these eyeshadows but their surprisingly buttery texture more than makes up for this. All shades are velvety smooth and highly pigmented. This palette has great versatility as the first five shades can be used to create a delicate, sun-kissed goddess look perfect for Summer whilst the black (which I really wish was more of a plum colour) can be used to add depth and create a more smokey look.
I did find I had to use a primer in order to increase the longevity of the eyeshadows, but Eyes Uncovered is the perfect handbag sized palette to carry with me for touchups during the day. The shadows blend like a dream thanks to their velvety texture, which is seriously impressive as other drugstore equivilants with similar price points often have a more chalk-like, powdery consistency that can irritate the eyes. The Eyes Uncovered Nude Rose Palette has definitely restored my faith in Collection.
The Eyes Uncovered Nude Rose Palette retails at £3.99 and is available both online and instore at Boots & Superdrug.
