Nude Lipstick Collection Collection with MUA, Essence & Makeup Revolution

Nude lipstick used to scare me. It was a shade I would avoid like the plague. I’d always opt for everyday pinks (like MAC Creme Cup or Bourjois Shine Edition in Oh My Doll), corals (MAC Vegas Volt and Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Hot Pepper) and reds (No7 Sweet Copper and Rimmel’s Red Nose Red by Kate). It’s only recently that I’ve begun to experiment with a nude palette and buy into this trend. The perfect nude gives that ‘natural-but-better’ appearance to the lips. It can accentuate your natural features by highlighting and defining the lips without being too overpowering and allowing you to retain a fresh, natural appearance.

My Cheeky Nude Lipstick Collection with MUA, Essence, Makeup Revolution & MAC

Above are my four favourite nude lipsticks. Starting from the left we have: MUA Makeup Academy Lipstick in No 14. Bare (£1), Makeup Revolution in Nude (£1), Essence No 05. Cool Nude (£2.30) and MAC Shy Girl (£15.50).

MUA’s Bare (first on the right) is packed full of pigment. It’s creamy, glossy formula glides on easily, melting into the lips providing hours of hydration. It’s unbelievably good value for only a pound. Next up is Makeup Revolution’s Nude. It’s a lot more sheer than MUA and doesn’t give as much colour pay-off but that’s why I like it, it’s the perfect natural shade that contains only a hint of colour to emphasis the lips – a must have in any lipstick collection. Third from the left we have my first Essence lipstick the richer shade of the four. I love Cool Nude as it adds depth and drama without being too overpowering. It’s a darker nude than the other two with an almost hint of berry to it – it really flatters my pale skin and is quickly becoming my perfect Autumn shade. Finally, we have Shy Girl, a sophisticated and understated nude/peach lipstick with a Cremesheen finish. It’s both incredibly long lasting, nourishing and the most pigmented out of the four.

Bottom Row (L-R) Essence No 05. Cool Nude & MAC Shy Girl

Essence is the darker and bolder of the four, it makes my lips look a lot more fuller. Makeup Revolution is the most sheer and delicate although it is buildable depending on the look you’re going for. MUA is a warm, flattering beige and MAC is the most long-lasting and pigmented. These four lipsticks really do cover all my bases when it comes to nude lipsticks.

What do you think of my collection?

Are you a fan of the nude trend?

I’m looking for more berry tones to add to my collection for Autumn and I’d love some recommendations.
