Throughout Summer I went searching for a base a little bit different from my usual high coverage, matte finish foundation. I really wanted to give the whole BB cream trend a go. I was looking for a product with a light coverage, that would allow my skin to breath and give it a break during the warmer months. At the duty-free MAC counter at Gatwick airport a lovely assistant introduced me to the new Lightful C Tinted Cream with Radiance Booster & Vitamin C (£25.50). It’s not a product I’d ever seen before and to be honest I was a bit confused over the difference between a tinted cream and a BB cream… I still am to be honest. I really wanted to give the Prep + Prime Beauty Balm a go, as I’d read so many positive things about it, but after some friendly persuasion, I was convinced this was the right product for me.
As it turns out, MACs newest Lightful product is actually more of a colour-correcting cream. The lightweight formula is hydrating and once applied, with my damped Sephora Painter Sponge, it blends into my skin creating and even, flawless base. It helps to reduce the appearance of my pores, balance out my skin tone, protect my skin against sun damage (SPF 30) and give my complexion a beautiful, natural Summer glow. The cream gives a slightly dewy finish that at first, I admit, I wasn’t keen on. I’ve always had an oily t-zone so it’s kind of built into me to reach for my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder after applying liquid formulas. Now, I have come to embrace it’s finish and my skin looks a lot more radiant because of it.
The cream softens the redness around my nose and chin, whilst also blurring out any darkness under my eyes. I still have to use my concealer underneath, as it gives quite a light sheer finish but overall my skin looks much healthier and youthful since swapping to this. I admit, £25.50 for a CC cream is a bit steep but I could definitely see myself repurchasing this. I love how it boosts my complexion and gives my skin a natural glow throughout the colder, darker months. I never thought I’d take a step back from high coverage, matte foundations but the MAC Lightful C Tinted Cream has completely converted me!
