MAC Eyeshadows in Satin Taupe, Goldbit & Silver Ring | Review & Swatches

Remember that duty-free airport MAC haul I spoke about a while ago? Well, here’s three more stunning little purchases I made during my agonising 5 hour wait at Gatwick London. These are actually the first ever eyeshadows I’ve bought from MAC. Picking just three proved rather tricky, but after a wrist-to-elbow worth of swatches and some advice from my favourite beauty blogger babes I’m really happy with my choices.

I decided to keep it simple with three basic shades that no eyeshadow collection should be without, but in three different finishes. I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of all three shades as they are all highly versatile in terms of creating a variety of both day and night looks.

Silver Ring (Veluxe Pearl)
I knew that I had so go for a smokey grey as these are the most used shades in all my eyeshadow palettes. A smokey eye is my go to nighttime look as, let’s face it, I’m no makeup artist and popping on a bit of smokey grey is a quick way to look all dark and mysterious. This iridescent shadow has an almost violet shimmer to it in certain light. The formula is super blendable and easy to play around with whilst having minimal fall, which I would expect from a high-end shadow. This silver shade is actually quite subtle at first, which I love. It’s not as overpowering as some thick grey shades can be, it shimmers like a pearl as it’s finish suggests, but it’s also buildable if your want to achieve a more dramatic, statement look.

Goldbit (lustre)
Goldbit is the perfect, warm, highlighting shade. It a difficult shade to truly capture in a photograph as it’s opalescent formula is very similar to the finish of Silver Ring.  The soft, shimmering champagne is lovely in the corner of the eye and gently swept under my brow to bring my whole look together.

Satin Taupe (frost)

I cannot stress how much I also rely on beauty blogs to guide my makeup choices. I’m hoping to write a post very soon about a few of my favourites. I think it was both Anne from lindalibraloca.com and Jasmine from jasminetalksbeauty.com that recommended Satin Taupe to me, although I could be wrong. Regardless, these are the ladies in the know-how when it comes to MAC eyeshadows. This shade is a gorgeous bronze that is packed full of pigment and is buttery soft to apply. It’s incredibly long lasting, crease proof and gives a subtle, almost pinky, shimmer without being too overpowering or glittery.

The colour pay off on all three eyeshadows is seriously impressive. Goldbit may look pretty bland compared to the other two but it’s honestly a beautiful shade that will bring together your entire look. My first experience of MAC eyeshadows has been entirely positive. I’m beginning to see how collecting them can turn into quite the obsession. I have a few shades I’d like to try out next, including: Woodwinked, Shroom and Aquadisiac.
